The flamboyant attacking style of the Wests Tigers and the chance to be coached by Tim Sheens were key factors in Adam Blair’s decision to join the Club.
The tough as nails Blair will spend the next four years at Wests Tigers and says he is very much looking forward to the opportunity of playing alongside internationals Benji Marshall, Robbie Farah, Chris Lawrence, Keith Galloway, Gareth Ellis, Chris Heighington and Lote Tuqiri.
“It is always good to have clubs coming after you and when the Wests Tigers approached me, I put some serious thought to it,’’ said the former Melbourne Storm back-rower.
“I was really attracted by the style of footy the team plays and I thought I could be suited to that kind of footy.
“Being a player who likes to play out wide, I can see myself getting more room and the chance to express some of my skills.
“Hopefully I will be able to make a strong contribution to the team.”
Blair may be the headline signing for Wests Tigers for season 2012 but the Kiwi international is keen to downplay the level of expectations on him.
“I’m looking at next season as a fresh start. I just want to work hard and start all over again like I did when I first arrived at the Storm,’’ Blair said.
“Hard work leads you in the right places and that’s what I want to do here. I want to start at the bottom and work my way up to the top and do the very best I can for Wests Tigers.
“I’m very much looking forward to working with Tim. I enjoyed my time under Craig Bellamy and to now be coached by the Australian Coach is very exciting for me.”
