Flanagan hammers agent as Dragons lose teen star

This is what makes the comp a joke. 7 weeks in and players are already packing their bags to go elsewhere for next season.
How do you run a comp so bad that this happens?
That’s a good question for PVL and the knobs before him. But PVL will be in front of a mirror, a camera, or at some free dinner, so he won’t be answering any time soon.

I have said in here before that there should be a draft for all under 23 players

and when you turn 23 you can do what ever you want you have contributed to the good of the game so go do what you want
exactly. Just can’t see the RLPA letting it be done this way or like Richo said , the players managers association lol
NFL and NBA are pro leagues NRL is semi pro. Club owners care more about the brand and very rarely screw teams over players. Difference is the owners are individuals and billionaires. The league and teams control player movement.
Yep a lot more money goes around over there which does make it very hard to compare , to be fair I have seen owners over there cut players simply for the fact they didn’t want to pay a little more in their luxury cap for the benefit of the team. Players over there don’t really have loyalty to a team anymore and I can’t blame them because of how business run it all is . Where as here we want people who want to bleed for the club. Something needs to change just don’t know what exactly

It’s simple. Draft, salaries and offers all lodged. Any player movement ie Galvin costs say 3 first round picks. The Tigers may be ecstatic with that. ATM they get screwed for nothing.

The timing of this is actually due to the new rule that has come in re signing players under the top 30 off contact. Same happened with Ethan Sanders and Parra last year. Raiders were interested from Nov 1 but the rules changed in the offseason leading to them having to wait till round 7 last year to make an offer.

its not simple. Clubs screw players over just as it is the other way . A draft takes most incentives from a club to put money into educating and engaging the community

IMO the transfer window should open the Tuesday after the Grand Final, and not before. Then the deals can be done.
And if a player is signed for multiple seasons ahead, he can only negotiate at the end of the last year of his contract, not before.

Flanagan is not a good poker player ,his face has to many tells ,he should just stop bitchin as all the clubs do that miss out n just play smarter

a contract should stay binding until its done ,doubt we would have signed Sullivan up on those terms etc when clubs basically have 1 .5 mill tied up committed in passing dodgy mistakes about

Good to see another coach/ club complaining. Enough voices and maybe something will be done.
The same coach who was de-registered twice himself - much like his own agent Isaac Moses???

FMD!

They are just publically throwing shit at other agents to make Moses' behaviour & lack of integrity appear par for the course!

That is simply not true!

Read between the lines!!

aren't the managers there to get the most for their clients, morally some push the envelope but well with in the guide lines. You cant really knock managers out of the game. You could probably educate your up n comers ,established players on the fine art of negotiations and contracts and give them the tools to do it themselves with in any easier cheaper (lawyer?} themselves if had a bookshelf of encyclopedias on the history of payments ,right up until today what every player in every stage of the game is getting paid and if your offered x is it worth while going to y z on less or more - players wages should be public knowledge ,their payed beyond the norm to not be scrutinized. .Honesty is the best policy . get it up front and agent managers will diminish with out the fuss

The problem is most player managers are greedy scumbags I hope Braith is better than that.

speaking of dodgy deals ,1 we past over to the Titans somehow . Ken Maumalo's deal has been terminated 963 days since he last played a game ,1st /reggies ?

X9000.

Add society to that.
Unions can indeed provide balance and perspective, but somehow RLPA (like the CFMEU)has attained way too much power and can negatively impact optimum decision making
Heck.we have to get RLPA sign off to move forward with the Perth Bears, franchise even tho it facilitates a whole new employment opportunity for 40 or so players plus plus
A US based global co I ran here was adamant that Unions were irrelevant in their worldwide organisation... if you treated staff well...above award pay..profit sharing..safest conditions...etc...which is the absolute rite thing to do anyway..unions were redundant
We had to make a room available every time a Union rep turned up(with notice to all staff) and our goal was to ensure he sat in that room twiddling his thumbs with nothing to do So somehow,Vlandys, who has done a gr8 job promoting and enhancing the game, has been rooled by RLPA on this whole transfer thing, because the supporters and viewers dont support the incumbent system
More senior voices that speak out the better

Unions have done a lot for workers rights in this country.

But everything is a pendulum. Their ability in certain industries to run roughshod over businesses and government alike have led to over-regulation and a stifling of business incentives and innovation.
