There is some doomsdayers on here, when we pumped Parra, it meant nothing it was a trial, when we lost to the Roosters it highlighted all our deficiencies, cant have it both ways.

The trials matter or they dont…

1\. Those that complain about the forwards must understand that we are stuck with what we have - unless some forwards, hidden in the lower grades, arrive.

2\. Those that complain about our backs must realise that the problems are due to our outdated centre pairing. Stick with them at your risk.

3\. Late last season all the talk was about our inept coach. The pressure was on him to be replaced by Potter and praise was lavished on him. The pressure is now on him to perform. I would not like to be in his shoes if he does slip up.

Youre right - you cant have it both ways.
Youre only as good as your last game
Glad you agree

Why? Defence was alright on saturday, just think back to tigers vs eels, up 31-0, final score 31-30\. against the spooners.

Why?
Why you may well ask….the answers in the article:

“We want to be known as a team where the opposition knows they are in for a tough game instead of thinking we will go through their forwards as they are a bit weak.

The rooster went straight through us, we were weak

I never said out defence was AMAZING but it wasn't atrocious. The chooks didn't go 'through' us they just battered us backwards through greater strength and ferocity in the forwards. Different to us having bad defence, we were outmuscled rather than poorly defended.

Wasn't perfect defence, we can definitely do better. But compared the the shambles that was the tiger's defence in 2012, it was better.

And when your defense fails because it gets bashed thats an even bigger problem than poor defense thru technique e.t.c.Poor defense can get coached re defensive patterns e.t.c but when your defense is breaking thru lack of strength and brute force thru a "distinct" lack of size good luck fixing that one.

Yep trials don't matter , why should players be playing for their Round 1 spots like the Roosters were

I tell you why , because most blokes are assured that their spots will be there Round 1

No pressure bar a few positions . That is the problem with this club , we need accountability and all we get is more excuses and a pissant playing roster year after year . WHY ????????

Obviously we have who we have so rather than rant about our size etc, I want to see more EFFORT.

In the Roosters game their defensive line speed was very good. Ours was generally woeful. They came off their line to meet us while we waited on our ten metre mark for the attack and basically handed over easy metres. That simply needs to change. Every 20m re-start they made 10 on their first hit-up, we made 5 metres. They had more urgency in both defending and attacking and it was easy to see, and to make a like-for-like comparison from these re-starts.

If you watched the Challenge Cup you would have seen a good defensive effort from the Storm. They usually came off their line well in defence and after each tackle they hustled well to get back into position, it made a big difference and I don't think I've seen Moors work that hard in D before?

So what we need most of is enthusiasm and urgency in defence, instead of just plodding along. Work hard for each other and the defensive line.
