OFFICIAL Fonua Pole #257

It would be a really dumb move for us not to resign pole. He is only 24 and still has his best footy ahead of him.

It takes 2 to tango. Who knows if there is another club getting in his head. I hope we re-sign him but going to open market and testing interest can be dangerous. I've heard WT have been trying to get his signature.

Pole has been linked to the Storm for about a year. His brother is there. Add to the fact there has been no suggestion at all of him re-signing, not even with the amount of teammates of his who have re-signed. Whether that was his choice or the clubs, who knows. Regardless, there is nothing to suggest he’s staying.

A year?
He came to us from the Storm.
There was plenty of talk about him going back last time he re-signed.

I hope he's a priority,
But I've got a bad feeling he's not - Or he's decided his future is elsewhere.

Easily our best middle,
Probably go to a club where you have to earn your Jumper with a
decent coach and fulfill his infinite potential.

I can’t recall any recent mention in the media in respect of him staying at the club or him being on another’s club’s radar …certainly nothing has found its way to this thread over this past season ..

I guess we can all do the mental calculations that he is a free agent next week and they have re-signed just about everyone else except him and Latu …

Hopefully it’s a case that they are giving him a chance to check his market value …although perhaps a little strange they just signed up the others…

I thought he improved a lot over the course of this season …would be a shame to lose him now just as he is looking like an established NRL player

If he was to leave it seems like one of those cases where pole must have privately told the club he would be leaving for family reasons to go to Melb, so the deal will probably be done swiftly and quietly

Yes possibly …I’m aware he is from Melbourne , and there was some speculation he was going to go back the last time and he only re upped here for 2 years …perhaps Richo was guilt tripping him…

Having said that …since then he was always quoted as saying he was happy at the club …unlike several others who didn’t leave much doubt they were moving on at the first opportunity

Depends what media,
Social Media has Sharks, Parra looking at him - I'm sure there's more....

Fonua has always been one of those young middle forwards that you think is going to make it in the NRL. He can bend the line and is our No. 1 metre grabbing middle forward. When he re-signed 2 years ago I was confident he would stick solid despite the noise about him heading back home to Melbourne. The same rumours persist now 2 years later. Once again I think he will stick with us. He will be a key player for us in the middle of the ruck and we need his go forward. He should be our No. 1 signing priority.
