Footy Show ??

To be honest I find a lot of the interview segments (when they try to be serious) to be a little boring. The players tend to fall back into cliches. Having them do some light hearted stuff at least humanises them. The only thing that disappoints me is the quick run through of games at the end. They could stand to be more like the AFL version which still is variety based but uses the format of running through the round a lot better.

I am a fan of the footy show and fatty and I hope he keeps going for another decade. Met both Peter Sterling and Paul Vautin Fatty is the same as you see on TV very friendly and charming.

This is why I'm upset that the league longue has been axed. The casual nature of the show made player interviews much more enjoyable, they didn't just throw out the usual cliches, and it let you see some personality from them.

I agree the show needs to be a bit more RL orrientated, which is why Johns would have been a better host than Vautin. He has a much better football mind, not to mention he is funnier and is more charismatic as well.

I'd like the footy show to be a bit more like the league lounge, that was a gr8 show. replace Warren Smith and i think you have a winner. I like the footy show but if it's uninteresting i wait for Beau to finish and go to bed. I think that if you want a show that talks footy all the time you have the sunday footy show and the roast. imo i'd like to see Benny Elias as the host but i know that's never gunna happen. I reckon no matter who the host is people will always say someone else could do a better job or i don't like him. we have always had Fatty and imo we always should( unless Beau wants the job).

Beau goes a lot better in pre-filmed segments than he does live. Something like the league lounge wouldn't rate very well on a Thursday night. IMO anyway…

Whether he is a good bloke isn't the question though Fumbles

Whether the Footy Show will survive with Fatty as the host is the question and with ratings plummeting as they have they will have to do something if it doesn't change .

I'd watch if the footy show was like the league lounge!!! i am with you that Beau is better in pre-filmed stuff but i'm sure nobody starts off being an old hand in front of the camera, he'd learn. He would probably earn more money on channel 9 then working his guts out playing footy.

I think the main issue that is being missed is that in the last few years, the show has been League orientated with most of the silly stuff right at the end of the show. There is a lot of footy talk on the show now.

The problem is what is said in the footy talk and also the types of guests on the show. They talk to the same current players every few weeks and it becomes very cliched hearing the same players say the same thing over and over. How often was Billy Slater, Darren Lockyer, Jonathan Thurston and Sam Thaiday on the show last year? Not only that, but because the same players come on the show over and over, there are no hard hitting questions and the panel always seems to support the players who appear on the show because they become very matey.

This is where they need to bring in someone like a journalist from outside the show who is not afraid to ask the hard hitting questions which is what makes for compelling viewing.

Ironically, this is what Matt Johns wanted when he wanted to re invent the show, a more journalistic view ala Controversy Corner.

I don't think John singleton has the right to say anything about Fatty, Who the hell does he think he is? How may times has he got himself into trouble in the ad business? I don't see Fatty calling him an average ad man and an average business man. Matthew Johns doesn't need such a big mouth fighting battles for him, if Matty didn't like what channel 9 was offering just walk away from the deal. I like Matty Johns and i think he was poorly treated by channel 9 and public opinion a couple of years ago but i think John Singleton should just shut his big fat neck.

I'm no fan of Fatty on TV ( past his use by date in my opinion ) but for Singo , of all people , to bag his playing record?
Played in a premiership winning team ,for his state and for his country.
Singo should look at his own advertising record - ad campaigns like "where do ya get it"and "Betty Best and Lottie Less" will live forever as classic ( but strangely effective for a short time) retail crap (aaarghh)
Possibly he meant to tell Fatty to do as he did- realise you have no real talent and pay someone else to do the work under your company name whilst taking all the credit publicly .
When it comes to bogans Fatty doesn't come close to Singo

Footy show just needs a slight tweaking, talk a bit more footy, not so mamy lame games, surely someone at channel 9 has half a brain and can come up with some decent ones. I liked the segment in the matty johns show where players would surprise a fan by turning up to their house. Fans get to meet the ayers and then have a chance to win prizes.
The show would also pick up in the ratings if it aired earlier at 8:30\. Instead its on later and has some weak show as a lead in. I dare say the audience of CSI where ever arent going to stay tuned and roll over into the footy show.

I think it's a terrible show, haven't watched it for years! Keep flicking it back on now and then hoping it's changed and it never has.

Now, the League Lounge. That is a brilliant show. Especially that Renee Gartner :astonished:

No way. If it has, rediculous call. Best footy show and cast that I've seen in a while.
