For those who think Sheens was just coaching us too long...

Wayne Bennett was at the Broncos for an eternity it seems. And they always seemed to be going well. But perhaps that's because the Broncos of that era were maybe the type of team where you would have to be deliberately failing to NOT be successful with them (like the Melbourne storm of the current era perhaps…).

craig bellamy signed at the same time as sheens… difference is sheens was unsuccessful, yet we kept re signing him whereas bellamy is successful

Ooo the Bellamy/Storm haters will have some with this post. I agree with you though. If Sheens had been as successful he'd still be here

I thought at the time and still do that maybe Sheens was treated to harshly.

The decision to replace him while still paying him is surely a huge stuff up by whoever made that choice, a stuff up which has done and will continue to plague us. A bad decision that will be compounded if they decide to sign Benji on mega bucks.

Maybe this is an ignorant comment, but the only criticism i could offer of him is that maybe he was too close to the players at times…..maybe he had too much faith in them at times when maybe they should have been dropped or whatever

But really I thought he copped a lot of criticism that really should have been placed at the players feet a lot of the time

Not a completely fair comparison. Melbourne did have a good part of a decade playing with a slightly tilted even playing field of talent.

I'm happy Sheens is gone. I liked him when he was here but you need to win games. Potter should get more of a go than just this year but if the team fails to perform his head should be on the chopping block as well.

Potter should be given 3 years then judged after that. IMO he is doing an ok job with the team he inherited.

That's it. Essentially it comes back to results. Sheens didn't do too bad with us in latter year, 2010-11 were fair years but he failed to deliver last year despite a good squad. His sacking though I don't think was entirely because of results themselves. More so the manner of some of the results. Some of the losses at the back end were pathetic and it appeared the players weren't interested. If a coach can't get his squad up for a game, his days are numbered….and were.

If Bellamy brought Marshall into grade people would be talking about him in the same breath as Smith, Cronk and Slater. He'd just about be a future immortal

I think it had more to do with he lost the mateship he had with his players by letting go of Marshall and farahs mates.Or just maybe our squad isn't as good as what we all thought.

I miss TS innovation. His set pieces were outstanding when they came off. Tim had it bad last year with injuries, which not many people acknowledge, but, he did not have it as bad as MP has had injuries this year. The people bagging out our roster need to get a grip - we have a great roster, its just a matter of getting our full compliment on the same paddock at the same time. This will happen, but unfortunately, it could be to late in the season. Go Weststigers!

The hole we are in now Sheens dug for us

You are so correct. The entire squad except for gavett is sheens as are the assistant coaches and support staff.Potter must be given a couple of years to get rid of all the deadwood and shape his own team. Then we can cprrectly judge him at the end of 2015

Yep…he lost their respect and confidence...lost the dressing room

With Sheens gone so has are once feared attack. The "Wests Tigers" style of offence is history.
