Former NRL star Hazem El Masri has shocked the league community by announcing his split from wife Arwa.

The pair has been married for 13 years and have three young children.

"This will be sad news for many fans of the El Masri family, but the split has been amicable and the pair remain good friends," El Masri's management company, Sunstar Entertainment said in a statement on Wednesday night.

"As there are young children involved, they have politely requested that their privacy is respected at this time.

ive never understood the publics obsession with celebs. I mean, sometimes its funny or whatever but I couldn't care less who kim kardashian has married or whether Nicole kidman and the hubby are sleeping in different beds….

Being a child of divorce it can be very hard on the kids

Sometimes I think parents should suck it up for the sake of their children ,especially like in this case when their is no major angst in the relationship

never said there wasn't, but why do you care if its Hazem's kids? why not Sharron down the road? I mean, i guess they're a public figure but dont really see the appeal of peering into their lives and caring about every event.
