Former NSW State of Origin representative Ken McGuinness has been charged with assaulting a woman.

He was arrested on Saturday night and faced Parramatta court on Sunday morning where he was granted bail.

He is set to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today.

“At about 10:30 last night police were called to a home in Raby after a 43-year- old woman was allegedly assaulted,” police said in a statement on Sunday. “She was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for treatment.

“An investigation into the incident commenced and a 43-year-old man was arrested.

“He was taken to Campbelltown Police station, and he’s been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.”

McGuinness played 122 games for Western Suburbs, North Queensland and Wests Tigers before he retired at age 26 in 2002.

"FORMER NRL Player…. from 17 years ago".... surely there is a statute of limitations of when being a FORMER anything really matters in the scheme of things.....more sinking the boot in into league-ies I think....

The teaser on radio for this news story was "Former origin great charged with assaulting a woman".

I was having breakfast with some of the NRL head honchos and we nearly choked on our skinny machiatos when they said the former origin great was Ken "Jellyfish" McGuinness..

These blokes really have no idea, when will the penny drop

The media loves a beat up. This, Ben Cousins, the hooker that Farah belted.

Ex sports star…...

Unemployed person charged with......... doesn’t sell as many papers.

I hardly think the Ben Cousins issue is a beat up. He's been in jail and likely to be back in there again soon. But I agree the McGuiness story is a story because he played NRL. If he'd played ARU or Soccer nobody would have heard a thing. You have to wonder about some of these blokes, they had great opportunities and blown them.

Maybe he has changed but when he was a footballer he did some stupid things perhaps he has learned from his stupidity
