Forwards

Honestly they got absolutely smashed by the knights pack. On the back of a 9-2 penalty count and all the territory our pack looked so ineffective. Any time newcastle got the ball theyd charge onto it and get over the advantage line. any time one of our fellas ran it hed be hit , driven back and as a result take 10 seconds to play the ball.

How is Farah supposed to do anything behind a pack who is just absolutely dominated???

Every player might have there value to the pack, but the balance isnt there. Having forwards gain any metres was a big factor at the end of last year in the two semis we lost, and its the same now.

Does bringing in Blair, and a bit of development by woods and fifita change our pack?

I thought the Knights speed of line was much better than ours and was quite evident in that department.

Moltzen and Ryan also need to make stronger meters on kick returns.

I disagree. Woods dropped the ball too much. Fulton got dominated. Dwyer was pretty ineffective.

At the same time Fifita was the best prop on the park. Heighno was the best player on the park. Gibbs and Galloway both put in. Ellis was good.

I think that Sheens has to go for a big pack going forward.

Something like:

8\. Fifita
10\. Galloway
11\. Ellis
12\. Gibbs
13\. Heighno

14\. Woods
15\. Dwyer
16\. Another Prop
17\. Fulton or a back

Blair is a very good player, but we seriously need a senior Big Bopper- ala Petro, Hannant, Matt Scott. They could nurture Woods, Fafita etc. We can't have 8 forwards that run shallow and stop at the line.

Theres already plenty of size in the pack, but we get dominated every week.
Apart from Ellis, theres no real venom in defence or attack, players run one out like theyve never been coached,& most stop at the line rather than break it.

Tell that to Fifita, Galloway and Heighno tonight. They all played huge games.

Ryan? jeez mate, he does well. Did you see his last metre gain before farah kicked the field goal?

Im pretty sure he pumped his legs and backed his way to 10-15 metres with both Junior Sau and Mcmanus trying to stop him.

Neil Begovich has all the signs of being a tough, granite hard, Matt Scott style prop. He may not have the pedigree of a Groat or Woods but he looks to me like the sort of prop that'll become a hero figure.

fulton is really the only weak link here i know hes only there for the defensive work but how can we afford to keep him on the field when he gets destroyed on every single hit up

dwyer is only effective when our halves put him through a hole, unfortunately didnt happen tonight

The Fonz struggles to pump the team up with venom. The coach is to blame for years and years of being outmuscled.

In the words of Lisa Simpson - Hee, hee - you're funny.

We are not big enough. We need big forwards to run three hit ups in a row in the same spot. Fracture the defensive line, particularly when we are in their quater. This will draw in their forwards and make room out wide.

But no, we have to throw it around left to right, right to left getting nowhere and then we drop it! It is not rocket science. Can't they sit in the video room and watch Malbourne and Manly do it! Frustrating!!!

Fulton got belted all night yet stayed out there for long minutes…WHY!?

Fulton came on in the last 8 min of first half then played til the end…47 tackles - 1 miss - 1 try

that answer your question.may be small in size but usually has one of the highest tackle rate for minutes played

Forwards dead set got dominated. We had more possession and a 9-2 penalty count and could only win by 1..just. Forwards get the ball from a standing start, stop before hitting the line, and run sideways because it looks like their scared of impact!! Dead set just tuck the ball under an arm and run. Galloway did it a few times and we got some good metres off the back if it!! We have classy backs but no roll on to get field position. Add to that a weak long kicking game and small ball carriers from kick returns, and were attacking 90% of the time from our own half. Frustrating!!!

Utai, Lawrence and tuqiri can change that, so if we hang in and get them back, we'll be a force.

Because he did what he always does, he got us out of trouble again! He gets belted but keeps on coming. If some of the other "players" on our team did the same, then we would be sitting much higher on the ladder. I can't believe people are so keen to dump him! Galloway had his customary one good game out of 6\. Woods nearly gave away the game for us. Did Ellis play? But nooo, Fulton was to blame for everything that went wrong.
