Front Row Options for 2011

I have been a fan of the club importing a new frontrower to add strength to the club for 2011.

I am now starting to wonder whether we actually already have the strength in the juniors with Woods Begovich and Roqica.

The more I see of these guys the more heartened I am with the possibilities for next year. Admittedly I am hoping that these guys could kick on like Fifita. Add Murdoch to the list for the second half of the year for the odd short stint and I like the way the WT's pack looks like being reformed over the new 2-3 years.

Peyton will be gone - Gibbs will be past his best - Ellis may be back in the UK in 2013.

That could see us with a pack of Galloway Farah Fifita Murdoch Ellis Fulton Begovich Roqica maybe Maitua.

Not bad with power and some leg speed in there.

Will be interesting to see what management has in store for us next year.

If the club is smart they will continue to use Murdoch in the backrow where he is far more damaging on the fringes. Aaron Woods, Neil Begovich and Junior Roqica all have potential with Woods the pick of the three IMO. Provided David Fifita remains with the club next season, he could be another option if he has a big off-season and works hard on his fitness.

The main 4 props for next season will more than likely be Galloway, Gibbs, Payten and Andrew Fifita in that order. If Al Schirnack is still around he is another who could be used, along with Moors.

Next year we have Galloway, Gibbs, Payten, Fifita. I think Woods will get some time in first grade next year when we get inevitable injuries in the front row. I think Moors is better as a second rower but can play prop if we really need him too. I don't know what is happening with Cayless and Topou but we can't rely on them because of their injuries. I'll be watching Murdoch closely although he might be more of a second rower when he gets into firstgrade.

Willow aren't Begovich and Roqica able to play Under 20's next year or will they be too old???

I think they are both eligible next year.

Agree with Woods as a choice and Murdoch has plenty of necessary aggression. Not sure whether Begovich has the size yet and would like to see Roqica get more involved. If they are both eligible for 20's again next year that would be good.

Both are still eligble….Begovich and Junior have been great all Year...Begovich in particular...Funny they won well the past 2 weeks and these blokes were standouts shame they weren't on TV...

Woods has to get more mongrel in his game...I think we saw the start yesterday...

As far as young Props go Wests Tigers recruitment have done well ...was hoping Cayless would have been the experience but now we should just stick with our own backyard....

Mathew Groat is another Young Prop waiting for the chance....

I'm still not convinced on Al Schirnack … I think Woods is a fair way off first grade. Hasn't played alot of football the last 2 years. He'll only get a handful of games before the end of 2010 too and the Storm game was his first since Round 1 if I'm not mistaken. Who knows, maybe an off-season with Folkes will do him wonders.

One prop from outside the club would be good. That's all I think we need to buy for next year after being pretty active in the player market this year

It would be nice to know how far Al Schirnack could have progressed in his development arc had our near sighted coach not brought Skando out of retirement two seasons running

cant help but wonder how much he's on. Its gotta be the biggest waste of money since souths signed terry hill

Thats Funny

Since the Tigers signed Terry Hill as well. That guy was a waste of money and oxygen.

Forwards take a little longer to settle and become conditioned.

Gibbs has on really been a standout for me this year and hes been in FG for ages. This is why I am extra wrapped about Andrew Fifita in 2010.

How old are these youngsters like the Shirnacks, Woods etc…

PS - With Cayless and Moors playing for contracts, we may see some decent outings...

Just read an article in the SMH that we have pretty muched signed Reni Maitua for 2011 due to Steve Folkes talking him into it. Will be a great buy! Fifita, Maitua, Ellis, Gibbs, Peyton,Heighton, Galloway, Farah, Cant wait!!
