Fulton at 6 is a good move

Here's my take on the move.

Liam has proven to be one of those players that can be given a role and go out there and follow the instructions for that role to the benefit of his team.. He has done it at 6 and 9 both here and overseas in the past. And here's the twister, i think he will relish being 5/8 and provide more creativity than Sirro and Anasta combined. In fact, i'd go as far to say that with a halfback like Brooks inside him, Liam could very well be a big success at 5/8\. Yes he lacks that class and X factor of some halves, but trust me, his intelligence is higher than people think, as is his ball skills. He hits holes, he can slide across the line and hit hole runners, he can straighten the attack, and guess what, the guy actually has a decent kicking game.

I hope Fulton is given a genuine halves role this week and i think we all will be pleasantly surprised at what he produces.

I dont know if it was a good move or a bad move to be honest, though if its an even swap ie. he has a shocker, we still benefit from the message sent to Benji. I like Liam, and like that he is re-signed. He is the sort of guy that can be a fair utility player, yet still earn a spot in the week to week team given the correct role, as in he is a utility without the normal roster liability..

Lets hope he makes a fist of it, would love to pull the Bunnies pants down this week. The bloke is my favourite Tiger to be honest.

He can ball play, and has an OK short kicking game I guess…..its a band aid solution, nothing more...lets get real here
He'll be into the forwards after 20 no doubt.

All of us know what's going to happen on Friday night so can't argue with the Fulton defensive strategy , try to keep it to a minimum.

Fulton's there to tackle Sutton, that's all

Sutton would run straight over the top of Benji on current form and has been tearing teams part all year

I give Potter some credit for trying to fix the problem in the halves with the players he has available, he is trying something different and picked a player he can rely on to give it a go. Whether the move lasts for the first 15-20 minutes or more or less will again be part of the coach's plan (barring injury) and how it plays out in practice. It will be interesting to see how Benji reacts.

Liam could make a good go of this, a good player and last week, he did just that, Benji's job as he went missing. I hope he goes well and put a frightner up Benji. Unfortunatley you weaken the middle ruck, however you 2 fold strengthen the halves. Have a goof game Fulton. P.S. He's in my Fantasy Team and kicks ass.

Fulton is definitely in there defensively, probably for the first 20 mins, his workrate is fantastic. We will probably see him switch to the forwards and Benji will come on when the game has settled.

I think that's what we'll see for sure.

We've tried Fulton in the halves before and it doesn't work. Defensively he is fine, but as a halves combination - meh, Fulton is not a five eighth and nor is Siro a half back.
The only reason Fulton is at five eighth is because he dropped Marshall and he really does not have any other option. It is a stop gap measure at best.
The only thing we can hope for out of this is that Marshall pulls his finger out and has a crack when he does get on.
I applaud Potter, however, for making the decision.

You can guarantee that in the first thets Friday night Fulton will engage the defensive line more then Bunji has this entire season.

Who knows so stable, incremental halves play may see our forwards know where they are supposed to be and using recognised patterns allow us to put bodies in motion to get players in a position to do something

Dumbest coaching move ever. EVER! you don't drop your best players in the situation we are in. Potter has had an absolute brain fart

I agree you dont drop your best players…. but he only dropped Benji, whats the issue?

It is an exercise to read the team without him at the very least, send a message second as I see it. Potter is looking for weaknesses, as he was with Farrah. We had our best game against Storm with Benji absent, it will be a good gauge to see where we sit without even Braith and see how much Benji really hamstrings us.

Benji played against Melbourne…

He half sat out due to turf toe, not knocking him on it, but he was a passenger for most of that game as others worked us up and down the field.

I personally can see potters experiment this week, I dont think we wil be hampered in the field percentage with Benji gone, and can understand the option of setting Liam the task of tattooing himself on Sutton. Potter seems like a fool to many, but i see him trying to identify our strengths and weaknesses. I just wish we had a full compliment to allow Potter to experiment across the board.
