Fulton

Part of Fults problem is that he hasnt strung a full season together in a long time. Few doubt the guy has talent but at times he had been very ineffective.

Fults can look very good when we are on top and average when we are getting beat. My thought is that this is because his size means he relies on others for go forward and the general momentum of the team to be effective.

He has always been great for WT. Most players have periods when for some reason - injury etc - they are not playing to their full potential and Fulton is not immune to this.

He also has been asked to take on some different roles within the team structure and there are not many players who could even do that let alone make a fist of it.

But he has really stepped up since Dwyer was injured. He is running Dwyer's lines now, and doing a great job of it. Not having to run at the bigger guys in the middle of the ruck is a better role for him too because as we know he is not a big back rower.

Glad he is staying with us.

I think you've hit the nail on the head for me there barra. I'm part of the "he's too small" bandwagon but admit he is killing it at the moment for us and i'm happy for him to make me eat my words until i resemble the fat guy at the end of monty pythons the meaning of life. It was just really frustrating me when he was getting monstered trying to gain metres in the middle of the ruck.

Dazza Unless something has changed this weekend he is signed for 3 seasons with the Tigers

2012,13 and 14?

Is this a new contract?

No, that is the remaining period left on his current contract.

Was he on a 4 year contract? Wow. I don't think that was such a wise move by McDonnell.

The last month or so has prob been the best I can remember him playing.
He is always whole hearted and has a massive go, and I reckon at least once or twice a year he goes through a period of a month or so when he plays out of his skin like he in at the moment.

Only criticism of Liam is the big telegraphed wind up on his long pass which makes him prone to intercepts and if we dont go forward he is very ineffective hitting it up, he still gives it a go which is admirable, I guess Im saying he is more reliant on his front rowers than other back rowers, so if he is part of a rubbish pack he will struggle a bit.

Overall in our current team, he is very important and very valuable

every one goes on about dallas johson, michael luck etc but i'll take liam fulton any day.At least he can run through holes and make 40 tackles but never gets any credit from commentators or the media

Fulton always gives his all, & can play in several positions which makes him even more important to us . And i must admit his form ove the last 5 weeks or so has been outstanding.

He has been great recently, watched him closely in the Dragons game and he was just all over them.

There has been some justified criticism of him over the years but it comes back top something I have mentioned before - I have always felt there has been room for one player of Fulton's size in the pack, we have struggled when we have had two - Halatau/Fulton (except late 05), Flanaghan/Fulton etc.
