Funaki & Liolevave

These guys are massive, our future backrow for sure. I know Funaki is in the fulltime squad this year but does anyone know anything about Liolevave?

Pretty sure Funaki was playing NYC when he was still eligible for SG Ball because he dropped out of high school early?

I think both have potential, but Liolevave looks to have more polish in his game at this stage. He runs brilliant lines, is fast and understands the game. Funaki has more strength and has an ability to make something from nothing on his own. They are different styles of player but I wonder how Liolevave will go without Martin. Their combo is incredible and it's seasoned.

They both still have a year in the NYC….

I hope Taylor has them training with the NRL squad

Would do wonders for the both of them

At least one of them will be but I believe Liolevave should train with the top squad also. He looks to be a very good left edge backrower in the making.

I believe Liolevave was having contract issues and was set to join the Bulldogs as of two weeks ago, but is now set to extend his contract with the Tigers, its just getting sorted out now and he should be at training within the coming weeks.

Having train with the FG squad would be great for their progression.

Really hope we can lock up Liolevave, I really rate him. An absolute beast. His brother plays for the Doggies, so I guess there's an attraction for him. But hope you're right and we're locking him up.

I know he loves to head back to the GC when he can, and is a massive Broncs fan. So I hope he sticks around with us, I really like him as a player.

Plus the Mata'utia brothers for 2016,wish our cap was this big.

Funny how we start appreciating local talent **only** when other clubs get interested :frowning:
'_the grass is greener on the other side_' mentality is live and well, thank you very much :frowning:

Go Tigers :sign:

These guys have been talked up on the forum for a lot of the year? As Funaki was given an article on the WT website. I think they've been given praise long before any rumours of them leaving were around.

Lamar is very good friends with my new room mate. Can't wait to til he comes round so I can get him to sign my jersey behind my Tiger bar. Don't worry guys I'll tell him he has to stay with us forever.

Are you sure Funaki is going to be in the fulltime squad?

Fulltime or second tier doesn't really matter. This is Wests Tigers, everyone but Adam Blair gets injured so everyone who can walk gets a go in first grade. Then we'll hit the second tier cap with a month to go and start playing backrowers on the wing again.

If the new boys are fit around June/July they'll be in and playing in the centres through August.

bOTH THESE BOYS COMPETE WELL IN AN AGED DEFINED COMPETITION, LIKE TO SEE THEM SPEND TIME IN RESERVE GRADE AND PLAY AGAINST MEN. I BELIEVE THEY WILL STRUGGLE JUST LIKE BROWN AND LOVETT.

We had contract issues with Liolevave and the Dogs before the season started too. His mum wanted him to play with his brother who said the Dogs had a very professional setup.

I'd like to think he sees all the talent and mateship at the Tigers and will sign on.

All the top NYC players will be training with the NRL squad in the off season, at the very least up until Christmas. The standouts will then continue to train with the NRL squad in the new year.

Same as last year and the year before that etc. There'd probably be 50 odd players training with the NRL squad, a few less with injuries…

I still can't get my head around The loss of Paul Sironen.
Did such a good job bringing up all these kids.
Yeah both great kids with a lot of potential.
