Future Centre Options ... Ayshford

Dean Collis frustrated me as you can see he had talent but didn't bring his game to another level. Also injuries did not help his cause.

Cronulla are struggling for outside backs and he can't get a gig. His form must be oridinary.

I would love to see Ayshford play off the bench as he can cover the forwards and back and we buy someone like Joe Tomane who appears to be on the outer with the Titans.

We need 4 forwards on the bench to complete in today's NRL.

The downward spiral in effect -

Collis won't get any better playing in reggies - however cant get a First Grade Game for the Sharkies.

Unfortunately he'll go the way of Shannon Gallant, Arana Taumata, Daine Laurie - Nowhere.

I must be in the minority.

Barring two games I have been wrapped with Ayshfords form this season. How can I not be wrapped by a guy who makes really good metres even in beaten sides and is strong on the right in defence?

He rarely gets clean ball. He is used as a blind side hitup and every ball in a strong movement invariably ends with Dwyer cutting a outside in line. He has rarely seen a clean feed in structured attack. Than again our attack is becoming less structured by the week it seems

Ayshford is one of the few that has turned up to play every week.

I am more than happy having him start in the centres. He's strong, rarely makes mistakes & defends well. He makes good metres when called upon.

People calling for Joe Tamane are suffering the "Grass is greener" syndrome. Why can't he get a start at the Titans? Why do they need to sign Idris to replace him?

Funny how we convince ourselves that guys that can't get a run elsewhere are better than guys that play consistantly here.

With Benji, Lui, Lawrence, Lote & McKinnon- there's enough 'srike power' on the field. Ayshford & Brown/Utai/Ryan need to 'not cost' the Tigers games- which Ayshford is very good at. I can't remember a game where I thouhgt Ayshford's direct involvement cost the Tigers a win.

I think I'm in the same boat as you Smeg. You rarely see him cut down in a clean tackle, he usually busts or drags the first defender and then is wrapped up by the second/third. Has an uncanny ability to get the arm free as well, and while he does offload, it doesn't seem to be often enough and Sheens should be utilising him more to generate second phase play as much as he can, especially while left side is in the shape its in.

He should only get better and stronger as well . As said previouly he just learning how to deal with being a marked man Give him time He'll be fine Hopefully next for a longish term contract (Sorry after Blair of course)

Love the way Ayshford plays, as well as Mitch. I understand it seems a bit diff. to how they played in 2010 but let's remember that Ayshford has Utai now, who i think has been great also, but that's new for both of them PLUS since Rd.4 Mitch had Daniella at centre for 2 games then Beau was at wing Rd.7 so Mitch back to centre & now Moltzen at centre. Not trying to make excuses but that is alot of changes in a short period, & don't know how many people noticed but Moltz is a bit of a ball hog, not great if your his winger! I give Ayshford, Mitch, Utai & Moltz alot of credit considering the circumstances so far in 2011\. So whoever partners Lote, i hope it's Mitch, i reckon we'll see a huge improvement.

He is far worse than what people make Ayshford out to be. He'd rather go to the line and lay down rather than put the ball to Brown who can challenge the outside defender better due to his size.

I think Moltzen's a better fullback than centre. I don't see how he fits at centre- almost looks wasted to me. That said, I don't think Moltzen is better than McKinnon at fullback. And now I'm thinking Lui is better than Moltzen at halfback.

I guess I'm starting to think Moltzen might end up being a player without a position to play.

Mitch Brown is a solid player, much in the same way Beau Ryan is. I actually like Brown as the back-up fullback, as you always know he's going to be pretty safe under the kick.

That said, with Lote back, and the current form of Utai, I'm not sure Brown gets a first grade spot once Lawrence returns either.

Guess it's not a bad position to find the club in, when you are trying to find first grade spots for guys with the quality of Mitch Brown & Tim Moltzen..

Well he wont be going anywhere considering he has a gig for the next 4 years, he extended his contract unitl the end of 2015\. Dean Collis was ok, but he didnt play that well in the last couple of years, played a few good games especially the win over the storm at blue tongue stadium. Geoff Daniela would be the other centre bar injury, i think alot of people are forgetting that as well, he has been missed this year, i think. There are a couple of good centres in NYC as well, but obviously Mr Sheens must think they are ready yet for 1st grade or the big time otherwise they would be in there by now, given our diabolical extent with injuries this year. I agree Moltzen isnt a centre and doesnt pass the ball enough for my liking that is required if you want him to play in the centres. He played ok against the broncos when he scored 2 tries, you mhave to admit as well mitch brown has lifted his game in regards to the high ball there was a time last year that he looked a real liability under the bomb but quickly cleaned his act up as the season went on, i remember one bomb he missed bad against the noahs arks at leichhardt oval he missed and led to a couple of tries as well.
