Gallop has occupied the position much longer than CEO's normally would. On balance he's been particularly good, save for the fact that he was a former employee of News. The game has grown in terms of attendance and revenues, so he's ticked the boxes for the major KPI's.
I'd be very nervous about appointing Gurr, whose CV is not particularly suited to the position. You need more than a solitary qual in a business discipline and the last few years as a CFO with a transport company to be a candidate IMO. About time the NRL headhunted someone with a quality sports management history, most likely to be found overseas.
