General kicking coach???

I know the simply answer here is jt or kimorley but our 6/7 can't find turf when it comes to general kicks. Maybe be a good idea to have paddy reef some spiraling bombs every now and then.
I heard on here about fittler maybe coming down to the club, would be beneficial Imo.

Throw the cheque book at Andrew Johns. Foran and DCE are leaving manly and he is the halves coach. He would be great for our young halves

It's gotta be a game plan
..tho a curious one.
We are focusing on defense and completions…risk free one out footy....it seems like.non contested kicks is also part of the risk free very basic.gameplan...got me baffled

There is only one plan with our kicking. We are so predictable. On our 5th tackle the opposition know that 95% of the time a high midfield bomb will come their way and therefore they appropriately locate their catchers who diffuse any threat from the kick. Yesterday late in the first half Brooks tried a low kick behind the opposition backline and the Warriors defence was in all sorts of trouble trying to catch it and diffuse a try. I expected more of the same type of kick by our kickers in the second but it was back to the same predictable boring kicking with little chance of success. Like players a coach should learn from his mistakes.

For a start brooks and moses can stand a little deeper when kicking on the fifth, noticing they're standing too flat to get effective kicks down field.

We are also looking at getting a good kick chase behind these mid field bombs and maximum hang time

Have Brooks and Moses even played at Mt Smart before , could be an entirely different stadium to kick in ??

Even though the general kicking game irritates me at times I see a different tack on things ..I see it as being unpredictable and would be putting the opposing coaching staff in 2 minds. The team can score points and use the ball so will they kick or not kick or run the ball ..it only becomes predictable when you do not have the skill to run the ball , not seen much yet but they can be pretty full on when they want to..

These kicks are going high and long. We're pinning opposition kick returners in their own 20m every time, sometimes their own 10m. It sure beats a kick rolling over the dead ball line and the opposition gets a 7 tackle set and an attacking kick at your line.

The kicking game plan is about controlling the early part of our defensive sets by using the hang time to start the set with our forwards advancing. It works.
We only place attacking kicks inside their 20.

We tried a few different kicks on the weekend, and quite a few of those led to sets we got rolled on.

Showed me the tactic works.

I don't mind the tactic i just think we haven't implemented well over the last few weeks. If we are going to put bomb after bomb up we need to be coming through and applying some pressure on the catcher while maintaining a structure in defence. There was a few occasions last week where our uncoordinated defensive structure after kick allowed opposition to make half breaks and gain good field position.

It kinda defeats the point of avoiding kicking it dead if you allow the opposition to scramble an extra 30 metres on kick return.
