The Roosters recruit the best juniors from the best systems throughout NSW, Qld, NZ etc. Our U20s have beaten their U20s twice this year. It suggests our identification, recruitment and training at junior level is healthy.

I can't think of too many players in our NRL team who improved under the former coach. I am of the view this will change with a new coach and with Marshall and Farah at the club.

It is much easier to cherry pick the best talent from the best systems and clubs with strong juniors when you don't invest in juniors in your area. If all clubs were required to do this it would be a much more even comp and our junior position NRL wide would be improved.

With respect to those comments, being from the UK he is probably unaware it is not always a level playing field. I hope for the day the NRL bring in a eligibility requirement that all NRL clubs must have x number of junior teams.

I think I’m getting a handle on the NRL strategic plan.
Manly “own” Spit Bridge to Palm Beach - further upgrades to Brooky
Cronulla “own” Taren Point Bridge and south - development of Points Bet Stadium
Roosters and Rabbits share east/ south Sydney - play at Accor
Penrith own Wenty west - Upgrade Penrith Stadium
Parramatta own Wenty to Granville - stand alone Commbank
Newcastle - stand alone
St George own south to Taren Point and Wollongong - Kogarah and Win
Cowboys - stand alone
Redcliffe own peninsula and Northern suburbs - Redcliffe Stadium( upgrade) or share Suncorp
Brisbane own rest of Brisbane - Suncorp
Gold Coast - stand alone
Melbourne - stand alone
That leaves two barren areas
Central Coast - people and Stadium but no team so I would think the CC Bears as 18th team is a real possibility moving forward( unless
they have visions of moving interstate).
Tigers / Dogs - a new Liverpool stadium would cater perfectly for them in both directions.
I’m hoping that NSW govt agree to build that Stadium in lieu of older ground upgrades then the plan would be complete.
Thoughts?

What is stopping WT from taking matters into their own hands like the Roosters have done?
Roosters have junior teams, they wear the same jerseys and guess what they call themselves? Correct..Roosters.

Good post Browney.
It's been year since I've been to LO and never been to CS.
The thing I remember the most about LO is it was a nightmare getting to and fro the ground.
The best stadiums are the opposite imo.
Suncorp has so many exits and free buses with game ticket holders. The same goes for the Gold Coast where the train is next door that takes one back to Brisbane.
Ease of access and amenities should be paramount. Also bid is not always the best as the game is watched more on TV...so a capacity of 25k would be ok.
LO would be perfect if access was better.
I never went to CS simply because it was too far to go but I would if I lived down that way.

The Roosters do not have a junior area of significance. Their supporters still whine about a junior club or two siphoned off to Souths. This means they do not have the outlay on juniors like the Steelers, Raiders, Knights, Eels, Panthers or WTs. The same with the Storm. Both the Storm and Roosters have a significant advantage over clubs which do spend on their juniors. They can go and cherry pick juniors from other areas.

Well if so advantageous why don't we just piss off campbo and concentrate on the inner west? I'm sure the dogs will take it

I prefer the 3 grades plus the juniors, where players have a more well defined pathway.

The NRL should enforce an eligibility requirement that all NRL clubs have a minimum number of junior clubs in their respective districts.

One of the reasons I strongly supported the merger was the potential of the South West.
 
My interest in the game at the moment is at an all time low. I haven't been watching and haven't missed it.
Checking the scores on NRL.com is where I'm at. I come here to try to get the love of the game back but feel empty. Things are just that low.
I'll try watching again Rd 1 next season but recruitment news is all that interests me now with this team.
