Get behind the tigers

My interest in the game at the moment is at an all time low. I haven't been watching and haven't missed it.
Checking the scores on NRL.com is where I'm at. I come here to try to get the love of the game back but feel empty. Things are just that low.
I'll try watching again Rd 1 next season but recruitment news is all that interests me now with this team.

Signing news is as dead as a dodo as Sheens seems to be moving as fast as Ularu.

Good post Browney.
It's been year since I've been to LO and never been to CS.
The thing I remember the most about LO is it was a nightmare getting to and fro the ground.
The best stadiums are the opposite imo.
Suncorp has so many exits and free buses with game ticket holders. The same goes for the Gold Coast where the train is next door that takes one back to Brisbane.
Ease of access and amenities should be paramount. Also bid is not always the best as the game is watched more on TV...so a capacity of 25k would be ok.
LO would be perfect if access was better.
I never went to CS simply because it was too far to go but I would if I lived down that way.
Well we all know LO is a debacle to get to whilst CS has Lumeah station nearby but a nice shiny new stadium with access to the Hume Hwy( back to Wests Ashfield) , Liverpool station and buses to Belmore would do the job imo.

Stopped watching any games since the broncos win.

But the forum is a nice respite for a chat etc
Come on TR, watch Sundays game for old time sake. I’m tipping a huge form reversal to warm our hearts.
If I’m wrong you may never hear from me again.
My link may be severed.
Some would say, not a bad thing.

Sounds like a great plan Browney

The NRL should enforce an eligibility requirement that all NRL clubs have a minimum number of junior clubs in their respective districts.

One of the reasons I strongly supported the merger was the potential of the South West.
So you wanna just kick the cold chooks out. We'd still be shit

I think I’m getting a handle on the NRL strategic plan.
Manly “own” Spit Bridge to Palm Beach - further upgrades to Brooky
Cronulla “own” Taren Point Bridge and south - development of Points Bet Stadium
Roosters and Rabbits share east/ south Sydney - play at Accor
Penrith own Wenty west - Upgrade Penrith Stadium
Parramatta own Wenty to Granville - stand alone Commbank
Newcastle - stand alone
St George own south to Taren Point and Wollongong - Kogarah and Win
Cowboys - stand alone
Redcliffe own peninsula and Northern suburbs - Redcliffe Stadium( upgrade) or share Suncorp
Brisbane own rest of Brisbane - Suncorp
Gold Coast - stand alone
Melbourne - stand alone
That leaves two barren areas
Central Coast - people and Stadium but no team so I would think the CC Bears as 18th team is a real possibility moving forward( unless
they have visions of moving interstate).
Tigers / Dogs - a new Liverpool stadium would cater perfectly for them in both directions.
I’m hoping that NSW govt agree to build that Stadium in lieu of older ground upgrades then the plan would be complete.
Thoughts?
All good observations.

But I wonder how Gould would view a stadium to share with the dogs?

Shouldn’t be an issue I would think. No competing Leagues Clubs nearby and has to be better for them than using Commbank and Belmore.
We would train at CoE and them at Belmore so ground would be pristine for match day.
I think it was last year where we got a good crowd at CS for the Dogs game. Maybe 25k or I am I wrong.
If Dogs supporters will travel there Liverpool would be a breeze.

Not 25 but 15k. Fat fingers.

NRL is ###### . Tigers shouldn’t even be last placed. Just been such a terrible year . Not just from the tigers perspective but officiating etc

I'd like to see WT rally the lower 8 teams, or most of them, to put a joint proposal to the NRL seeking to strengthen the lower rung teams with various suggestions. Things will only get worse with Dolphins in next year. We have already seen their influence on limited value signings for the lower rung clubs.

I'd like to see things like:
  • sister clubs in the ESL where trades / lending of players is encouraged- maybe stronger ESL club to weaker NRL club, not strong for strong.
  • linkages to specific regional areas / clubs
  • A player draft but only for new entrance players coming into their second season season, first season to be to their parent / local NRL club.
  • maybe NRL encouragement of older experienced players in the last few years to provide experience and leadership in the lower ranked clubs- especially those that came from these type of clubs and have gone on to success with the big boys. 'giving back'
  • successful big clubs encouraged to provide best practice sessions with club executives and support staff
  • a closer examination of corporate sponsorship and TPA

All good observations.

if just sharing a stadium nothing wrong with Comm bank
No way I would support a merger of Tigers / Magpies merging with Bulldogs
Imagine the politics
I would much prefer Central Coast Tigers to Central Coast Bears .The tigers have 10x as many supporters to the bears on the coast and 10x as many in Sydney for that matter . Would need a merger of Wests Leagues clubs with Central Coast Leagues . Govt instead of spending 500 mill on a new stadium could front up 100 mill to facilitate all the deals . The team would fast become a Nrl powerhouse I would even support it if it was Central Coast Magpies
I'm just pipe dreaming but if we keep on deteriorating like we are I fear being punted to cup level .The Central Coast with its 500 mill pop is the single biggest unrepresented in the Australian NRL world

Wests Tigers preparing for busiest season yet

More than 300 players will represent Wests Tigers across the club’s 13 pathways teams in what promises to be a bumper 2023 season.

The 2023 fixtures list for all representative teams has been confirmed by the NSWRL, with the new season to kick off in the first week of February.

In terms of numbers, it will be the busiest season yet for Wests Tigers with the impending entry of its inaugural NRLW team.
Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe says the club’s pathways plans are strategically very important.
“We have been adding significantly to our pathways programs in terms of resources for some time because we know that is where our growth will come from,” Pascoe said.
“We have beefed up our staffing across all representative teams, with a big focus on what we are doing in the women’s game as well.
It’s a really exciting time for Wests Tigers members and supporters."

Another highlight of the 2023 representative season for Wests Tigers is the number of games being played at its two spiritual home grounds.

Twenty-nine fixtures have been scheduled for next season’s pathways teams at Campbelltown Sports Stadium and Leichhardt Oval.

Pascoe says it’s a great result given the challenges around the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
“It has been tricky planning for next season with our two homes being out of action for a good chunk of the season," he added.
“I think we’ve done really well to ensure that Wests Tigers rep teams will be playing a lot of rugby league at both Campbelltown and Leichhardt.”
Wests Tigers women’s program will feature several ‘triple-headers’ in 2023 involving the club’s Harvey Norman NSW Premiership, Tarsha Gale Cup (U/19s) and Lisa Fioala Cup (U/17s) teams.

There will be quite a few triple-headers involving our men’s teams as well, including our NRL season kick off against the Titans.

Western Suburbs NSW Cup and Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg Cup teams will play curtain-raisers against the Roosters at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday 5th March.
There will be another triple-header at Leichhardt Oval the following week when our NRL, NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg teams take on Newcastle Knights.
The other triple-headers (NRL, NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg) will be for the Easter Monday fixture at Accor Stadium, our Round 8 fixture against Manly at Campbelltown, and our Round 12 fixture against the Panthers at Leichhardt.
Several of our pathways’ teams will spend time on the road in 2023. Our NSW Cup and Wests SG Ball Cup teams will each play a game in New Zealand, as will our Cubs (U/16s) following last season’s highly successful inaugural tour.
Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg and Balmain SG Ball teams will each play a game against the Storm in Melbourne.
Macarthur Wests Tigers Andrew Johns and Laurie Daley teams will also be hitting the road with games in Bathurst, Forster and Leeton, before playing home games at Kirkham Oval in Camden.
