Get marshall out, now!

been calling this for a long time, but we need to get marshall out of the halves…

he offers us so little compared to what he is capable of. he is being wasted. he is a natural talent being wasted.

i think the centres are the safest bet (lawrence one side, marshall the other) and have beau ryan at fullback.

only need to look at how other certain individuals react to a positional change to understand the potential capabilities (reece robinson). barba started in the halves also and look how far he has come along, he's a better player than benji at the moment.

or how about we just play him in his normal position of 5/8

he's not even a good five eight.
the only reason he gets a pass make is because his natural flair and ability gets him over the line.
compare him to a lockyer/thurston and he has NOTHING on them at all as a five eight.
put him in the centres and he'd be one of the best in the comp.
its time we bite the bullet and accept he isnt a half or five eight.

His defence has been awful

Center is the hardest position to defend in.

Why not fullback, he has a licence to roanm, chime in when he sees something, do some ball playing, be creative…call for an ovrlap....dunno defensively tho at #1

i was originally calling for fullback, but i dont like the idea of him under the high ball. i know barba managed, but i dont think marshall will be quite the same. he pretty much defends in the centres anyway (or atleast in the front line) so i think centre would be an easier transition.

Benji not a good 5/8???
Wow, plays a few bad games and the ridiculous calls come out! He is brilliant in the halves, if he ran the ball more then it would be great!

I think you've got it right, tigerlogic.
Benji is one of, if not the best runner of the ball in the whole NRL competition. That's what he needs to do because that's what he does best

The thing that upsets me the most is when i see him on the footy show acting like a celebrity rock star rather than a few casual visits as a footballer. I think he's trying to hard to develop himself in the media for life after footy rather than concentrating purely on the tigers. It's the tigers that are paying so he should worry about being idiot after retires.
He seems to listen to Gould and co who sing his praises like his the greatest thing since andrew johns for a simple thing like a kick or cut out pass. Isn't that what he's paid for.
Throughout his career I world reckon he's had more bad games than good ones.

We all know that Benjis strength is his running game, I still think Sheens is telling him not to run, were in Rd 19 he's hardly ran it all year so it has to be coming from the Coach. I'm hoping it's a plan to unleash his old style in the next few weeks. If not then the Sheenius has struck again.

I'd like to know who told him to stop running.
His strength has always been that he was totally unpredictable with the ball in hand.
Every time he runs it now he turns it back inside to a forward.
He has to go back to his running game or our chances of getting anywhere in this competition are slim.
Be a good idea to get in some more tackling practice as well.

This, how about it mr Sheens,it has been 6 years since we had a proper halfback, not one you converted from a hooker or 5/8th or any other position that takes your fancy.
Just get a natural halfback who has a kicking game and our problems arn't so bad,Hodgekinson,Cherry-Evans and Reynolds were rookies and got put in at 7 and starred, because they were left there,Miller didn't get that luxury,he could do just as well as these blokes with a decent run there.

I think benji's best position is at 5/8 . We just need a basic / boring 1/2 back to organise him ( kick on the fifth/ kick for touch etc… As for his poor exicusion in general play (kicking out on the full / poor meters gained in finding the line/ kicking on the third tackle when no one else has a clue what's going on and he's poor defensive reads..... Nothing will change until he retires benji is benji . In saying all of this, next week he may be in our good books once again...... Until he has another shocker!?

Amen i couldn't of said it better, been saying this for years now and it seems like more and more people are starting to notice the poor football that Benji produces 85% of the time. Mentioning him in the same sentence as Lockyer and Thurston should be a sin he's not even close never has been and never will be, but he thinks he is and a lot of others in the media are just too scared to tell him the truth because their all too busy blowing smoke up his ass.

would've loved him at FB a few years ago but now even though he has nice acceleration, his pace is very down… he had time to improve on his defense a few years ago, but atm it's too late to change that.

stick with him at 5/8.. get the occasional kicks, but otherwise just stay wider off the ruck, at second receiver, create overlaps and put centres and wingers away for a try..

could've achieved so much, it's a pity his injuries and inconsistencies have let him down. not THAT late though

I have been posting on this forum for years now, that Benji is NOT and NEVER will be an organiser or a playmaker. Benji is a running back with the ability to beat the defence and score or to set up support to score.

He was at his best, when Scott Prince was the organiser and CAPTAIN, who ran the team. When LUI had fitted into the team after a dozen or so games and took over the organising to some degree, Benji played much better.

No matter what all the experts say, I will never believe Benji should be our half-back. He is a VERY good five-eight!

he is a brilliant player.. a great running game… so imagine him running onto the ball out wide? remember where he was making breaks for us in 05? out wide.

think of the spread across the park if benji moves to the centres.

lawrence-----------sironen-----------farah-----------moltzen----------- marshall
--------------------------------- ryan ---------------------------------

we'd have links to every attacking position across the park. the ball would flow with sirro and moltzen. farah can direct more. marshall can just play footy, not worry about controlling the game, like he did in 2005.

i am convinced it needs to happen. scarily, imagine if NZ adopted the same tactics and played foran and johnson in the halves marshall on an edge, up against GI. would be great to watch.

You come on here week after bagging players/coach without ever once offering up alternatives, it looks like you are another armchair critic who has ruined what was a magnificent app that us true fans used to be able to voice our opinions without ever bagging our players.
I really question so called fans like you who have invaded this app with nothing but slander spread

Benji was 19 (I think in 05) he has lost considerable speed since then . It's not a bad thought though playing him in the centres , but if he was defending there against someone like GI , god help him.

Can't handle the truth? Mr dodger? I have been a balmain supporter since 1984 and wests since conception . Pay out for four memberships each year / cough up $450 a year for number plates/ buy new jerseys every second year and attend at least 12 games year . If the players were committed as I am I wouldn't be so negative each week!
