Gibbs , Heighington and Ellis

According to todays SMH, in a story about Adam Blair, we are still paying these three out of this years cap money! :unamused:
How could that be possible?
With all due respect to Ellis he asked to leave early so why would we owe him anything?
Can't even fathom why we would be contributing to Gibbs or Heighington either - Gibbs has been gone for 2 years!
On top of that we're still paying the ex coach - what a shambles.

that doesn't sound right at all…....Gibbs?

And yeah why would we be paying Ellis? he asked to leave

I can't believe any of that is true............if it is, we're in worse trouble than we thought

Ellis makes sence as backloaded contracts which are cut short still might have an excess which needs to be absorbed into the following years Cap…

I assumed Rhino's contract expired, and he left as we are offering a 1 year deal compared to the Gummies offering 3?

Who knows how the contract transpired with Bryce?!

Gee that's poor management. Given how many players we've moved on you'd think we'd have some room to move under the cap. I don't see the logic in getting rid of a player, replacing them with nobody and paying them to play for another club. It's insanity. I hope the new CEO can sort this mess out.

Dont believe this. However, I think the article is talking about salary cap allocation and not actual money. I assume it is saying we have to include a portion of their contracted salaries in our cap.

Given the salaries they quote for players, id be surprised if they had any knowledge of the comings and goings of player payments and cap allocations.

It is possible we are paying a portion of Gibbs salary id be surprised if we are paying Ellis or Heighington.

All three were owed money from the first years of their contracts due to Noyce's ineptness. They all agreed to let it be caught up in the next contract which never came.

Gibbo's catch up ended last year.

Just speculation, but maybe Ellis' deal might have some more to it.

Remember when the club announced we had extended Gareth for another 12 months? You can't backload contracts unless the player is currently still playing for you, so it would make sense if that was done purely to allow us to backload his contract into 2013 and give us breathing room in 2011/12.

And if Gareth decided to stay another year (2013), we benefit with a quality player, if he decides to go, we still benefit in the short term from the backloading.

Just a thought.

I think this is the last year that we are paying them, next year should be free of players we don't have in our squad unless they get rid of Blair, which we will defiantly be having to pay part of his wage if we offload him to another club
