I am truly shattered at Bryce having to leave.

Fifita and Fulton are next.

Sheens and Humphreys you are both a disgrace to this club and the minute you both walk out that door will be the happiest minute of my life.

My money is on you wanting this to happen so you could once again lay that ever-so-subtle slipper of yours into Sheens and Humphries.

Robbie re-tweeted a message saying, "sad day for the Tigers, losing Gibbo is a disaster for the club on many fronts."

It is highly unusual that Robbie would go public with his feelings like this. 'a disaster for the club on many fronts.' One of those fronts would be the loss of Bryce's defence, but what are the others"

Sounds to me like he is referring to team/club harmony and loyalty. This Blair business seems to be tearing the team apart. Robbie's comment is surely aimed at management. He sounds very unhappy and this can't be good.

If this really is all coming from the signing of Blair, then I agree, it is a disaster.

If that's true then these blokes, including Farah, ought to man up and try being professionals. It doesn't matter what they're getting paid (personally I don't happen to believe NRL players earn too much, but that's another discussion) - the fact is they are professional footballers and have no right to be bitching and moaning about who their colleagues are. I've worked at places where my colleagues are my best mates and at others where I'm barely on polite terms with them, and at both I'm there because I'm getting paid to do my job as best I can. Sure it's great to work with people you get on with but that shouldn't affect your performance, and if it does you need to take a long look in the mirror.

If anything, my worry would be that the Tigers are too matey with each other. This season has shown that they certainly believe their own hype. If management has decided the squad needs to be freshened up a bit they certainly have the evidence on the field to back that up - and I include last season in that: for all the talk of how close we came the fact is we were only competing for "best of the rest" and the signs are that where a few clubs have taken another step up this season (Dragons, Manly, maybe Melbourne) we have stagnated or gone backwards. If Farah wanted to keep all his mates around him he should have tried winning some more games. You could make a decent case that we've only played well twice this season and on one of those occasions the oppo rolled over and died, and if that's the best the current squad can do then yes, I would agree that we need changes.

Incidentally, I'm aware I'm being very harsh here given injuries etc, and it is possible that the poor performances have to some extent been caused by uncertainty off the field. But the fact is that they shouldn't have. There are a bunch of players in this squad who must know the next couple of seasons are going to be their best chance of winning a comp, and to lose focus on that because one of your mates might be playing somewhere else next year is crap, quite frankly. I'm not normally one to either criticise players (except Beau Ryan) or to ascribe on-field results to "team harmony" (it's amazing how winning teams develop their own harmony) but on this occasion I really think it's the players' role to shut up and perform.

Excellent post 2041\. Keep in mind that Melbourne would have finished in the top eight still last year if they were playing for points, and were well aware their side would be torn apart.

Sharks are classics. They are a shambles. Gibbs has had injury concerns and John Fifita would have to be over 50 years old. They will sign anyone.

Great post, and I completely agree.

People are scared of change. Aside from three months in 2005, and about two months last year, this side has been best described as mediocre and inconsistent. Yet everyone is up in arms when some senior players are being moved on.

Heighington, Gibbs and Fulton have been great servants for us but I can understand why they might be moved on. The club is stale and needs a broom put through it, it should have happened a few years ago. Many players are in their comfort zone and know they can underperform yet will still be held in high regard. We have some quality young players coming through and while losing some experienced players may initially put a few noses out of joint, I will back the club on this one. I've criticised them for alot of things in the past but I think it's clear they are trying to re-invigorate the place so I can't bag them for that.

It's a Sad Day when a stalwart gets the flick because of an administrative error.
What a great club man - Bryce Gibbs. Heart and Soul of the pack.

I have always been a fan of Gibbs even when people were critical of him a few years back. Sad to see him go but it could be a smart decission. He is carrying several chronic injuries which will start to take their toll in future years.

Im very disapointed in Robbie. Benji for skipper imo.

Get these clowns off twitter and any player that has a problem should feel free to look elsewhere.

i think people are being harsh on the club, we want them to keep all our juniors, buy big names, but not let anyone go…..cant do it all. I reckon at this point of his career, a big 3 year pay day is probably the best thing for Gibbs, I reckon he will work out better off. He has won a premiership, a blues jersay looks unlikey at this point, a big contract is more important than other footy stuff.

Good luck to him, hope he plays well for the sharkies. Will miss him, but I think we have good young props coming through to replace him

The movement of Bryce + others is a phenomenon that happens sooner or later at every club.
I am still confident that we will see a good finish to 2011 (Further Injuries Permitting)

I suppose here at WT we have built a culture over the last 5 years of hanging on to our juniors our main problem now being that we seem to have a wealth of juniors coming through the system
thus we now face salary cap restrictions.

Remember recently we were put under the microscope by Schubert & Co., and subsequently fined for the largest breach of any club for 2010 and although we are fighting this the alarm bells were ringing that we were flying close to the wind.

The purchase of Blair is a good one he will provide leadership for our emerging juniors and much needed dominance in our go forward in an area where we have lacked impact for a long time.

All that being said It's sad to see a guy like Bryce Gibbs go.
I know he will be missed by fans and players alike and I applaud Cronulla for a bit of foresight in this signing as he has plenty of good years left in him.

Fifita is another story, he wants to establish himself as a permanent starting prop and Cronulla afforded him that option, having dug deep for Blair we were not in the ball park to keep him and although it hurts WT have not stood in his way.

2011 still gives these guys an opportunity to go out winners and our youngsters coming through will see the light at NRL level, remember we still have another Fifita up our sleeve sometimes the ones who mature slower are the ones who shine longer.

Is Fifita Confirmed beyond a Shadow of a doubt.

I have been offline for a few days.

Cant blame him $100- 150K extra is a truckload of cash.

I have kept a pretty open mind about this. Now after reading Farahs Twitter comment I am just cranky.

If the players wanted there mates to hang around, then maybe they should have pulled their fingers out and been successful over the past 5 years! They make it sound like Robbie and Benji are victims, but the number of tackles that I have seen those guys miss that have led to tries in the first half of the season is just ridiculous!

If we were winning games then our players wouldn't be shopped around. No blaming Humphrey's or Sheens, it is the players who haven't put in! We are lucky to have won as many games as we have this year. There are a couple of close ones that we could have lost and been near the bottom of the table.

But we are not, we are in the 8\. If that is not enough motivation to turn up against the Warriors on Sunday then they don't deserve to play with their mates any more…....

Thats my rant for the day and now I need a cup of tea!

For those saying theyre too matey and comparing it to a 9-5 job….well, team sports, pro sports the mateship is encouraged, why go on bonding camps etc if its unnecessary?
I suppose 2041 you bleed and break bones, ligaments etc in the office with your workmates, shower with them, stay in hotels and travel interstate and overseas with them in the name of your job>?
Sweat your ring out in the summer heat during offseason training for months on end.
Try doing all this with a bunch of blokes that are trying to click as a UNIT, when theyre not on good terms.

Too matey...pfft :unamused:

Apparently Jeff Robson, Isaac De Gois and Jon Green from the Dragons all attended Sharks HQ today and are expected to sign. Fifita and Gibbs were not mentioned.
