Gill McLachlan CEO

I think it's time for a new CEO, and if we're serious about being successful, Gill McLachlan is our man.

Hell Yeah!
Would be a good signing.
You busy PabloX?
That is the kind of thinking we need on the board.

Haha, thought exactly the same. He's a very good operator and would probably command well in excess of $2m per annum, maybe much more. I don't think little old Wests Tigers are going to be on a big enough stage for him but we certainly would be a huge challenge even for Gil.

Need someone who specialises in cultural transformation

Lol,

A bit of AFL influence might be just what we need.

A bit of flying high to mark the ball, knees in the oppositions back (would that be ok in the current rules?), one problem that I see would be that a lot of the time what they call a mark in AFL are what we call a knock on in rugby league.

You could not be more correct. Apart from quality players, cultural transformation is the biggest thing WT need. I don't know they've ever had a culture. When the merger happened people (including me) assumed they'd just incorporate the best of the old Wests and Balmain cultures and discard the rest.
Although Wests and Balmain were close neighbours and had working class origins they were different in many ways. It was wrong to assume a culture would evolve out of their previous histories. I think WT has just bounced along without a culture underpining how they play and how they stick together when things get tough.
The worst example of that was the pitiful way WT played after Tommy passed away. Zero heart. The old Wests Magpies would have played their hearts out for Tommy. They may not have won but they would have played as if their lives depended on it. Equally, the old Balmain Tigers would have played their hearts out had it been to celebrate the life and career of a Balmain champion.

Honestly thought you were referring to Gil Gunderson

He’d fit right in at Concord

I think there has always been player power culture at WT. players come and go, the club needs to take back the power.
