Gladstone would be great for the NRL clubs....no people swarming them for autographs, only the townsfolk playing banjos and carrying the old 1 shot muskets when they go rabbit shooting for supper...
they have showers once a week and you have to hand pump the water....no wonder the head honchos recommended the place....corona virus wouldn't survive there...

Pie in the sky stuff. 16 clubs sharing a ground to play on is one thing, but 16 clubs sharing training facilities? And besides, How would the likes of Matterson deal with only 4 start accommodation?

The more I think about it, the more unfeasible it is. Teams obviously wouldn’t be able to train behind closed doors from one another. I can’t see it working.

Couple of points - They mention the possibility of playing a third of the games in Townsville and a third in Brisbane.

****If this happens... NO Broncos games at Suncorp and NO Cowboys games in Townsville.

If the players of 16 NRL teams are in islolation, how is that good for the Gladstone economy?

More the point if all 16 teams are together if 1 player gets it they have no choice but to shut the league down.

It’s a dumb move if they did this.

V'Landy's spoke to this today saying that would not necessarily be the case..

I can’t see at all how it couldn’t be.
Players will get cabin fever and mingle
You have the TV crews and umpires
There would limited fitness equipment/supplies/etc required to be shared

It’s putting all their eggs into a single basket.

What they should do is run mini comp structure with 4 teams where each plays each other over 3 weeks in a location then rotate. At the end of the 3 weeks pools change until everyone plays each other once.

Players have very strict protocols in place..if they have any symptoms they stay away inform the Club and are tested..we have already seen quite a few players tested and return negative results thankfully...that was even before further social distancing was put in place

If one did test positive the whole squad including support staff would be tested ..private companies can get the results within hours...

A lot of Clubs now are going even further in taking the players temperature before training and then after training before they go home..everything possible is being done to insure the competition continues..

Isn't "not training behind closed doors" superior to not playing at all?

If this happened it would be one of the craziest things I've seen. It seems impossible to me to do something. The more rounds they wait the harder it will be to do. We'll see players with it within a few weeks surely. Never say never though! I mean I'd love to keep watching league so I won't be negative. Just seems pretty nuts and desperate. But I suppose they are.

I just worry about all those school girls in CQ if 16 NRL teams are up this way, probably without partners.

The players are social and creatures of habit - there training drives them that way. My work has a critical list of employees its week one if isolated behaviors for those & everyone is going nuts. It’s one thing to do it for a week another for a season. The protocols won’t last.

I'm sure family, friends, anyone wouldn't be able to visit them at all if it happens. The players and club staff wouldn't be able to leave to goto a public pub or anything social with public. Nothing. If a players wife is pregnant, if he wants to see the baby he has to quit the comp. I'm serious. It has to be all the way otherwise it could jeopardize the whole thing and it's all for nothing.
