Golden Yeo

Big congrats to a bloke who goes under the radar a tad, but deserves to be mentioned with the greats of the game.

Not sure if anyone else agrees but he should be credited with being one of those players that has changed the way the the game is played, at least for the the position that he plays in.

Very humble player as well, there's not much to not like about him.

A player that delivers the same quality at all levels of the game. Cleary gets most of the kudos for Penriths success but to me Yeo is the guy who sets the bar for the others to follow. He is one of those few players who is great on and off the field. As someone else said, hard not to like the guy

During the year I saw that a journo was doing a forward workhorse list for the NRL. The parameters were simple, you had to play at least 2/3rds of the season, and your average tackles were added to your average meters gained. He stopped doing it at the end of June. I couldnt find a completed list so I did one myself. Using his rules, the best was Patty Carrigan on 207, Addin Fonua-Blake was second on 202, Joe Tapine 3rd on 197 and Isaah came in 4th on 196. Blake and Tapine dont play origin and also both played less NRL rounds than Patty and Yeo.

Additionally, Pat and Isaah played 3 x SOO games and 3 x Test Matches, however Yeo managed 4 more NRL games than Pat did and as he is also 4 yeas older, he is very close to, if not the best. It just shows what a freak he is - in the past 5 years he has played 119 NRL games, 2 x Club Challenge games, 14 x Origins and 11 Tests...to be still hanging with the heavyweights of the comp after this scheduling is remarkable.
