Watching the souths game on the weekend, they mentioned that souths had used the least amount of players this year, followed by the storm.
Makes me wonder, Maguire is a old storm asst coach, is ther something that they are doing down there that cuts the risk of injury or is it just old good luck. However it makes u think that two clubs who have the least injuries have, a common thead. :rant

Good pick up bp, you would think that what maguire learnt at melbourne would be implemented at south's. I'll be gutted if Pott's doesn't perform a full review at seasons end of our training and rehab programme's, he would have to though, more injuries next year how can he do himself justice as a first grade coach when he is constantly working with reserve graders,

The Storm have always been far ahead of other clubs in many areas

We on the other hand ….............. live in the dark ages

You can't always avoid injuries. Some are just bad luck, but I do believe we need to review our training programs and conditioning practices.
Happy is right, we are a century behind Melbourne and the likes in regards to our procedures etc.
Until we get out of debt we are likely to suffer more than we should.

It can't be just bad luck and I'm sure it isn't a coincidence that Souths are now having a good run with injuries.

Most teams (the professional ones anyway) have high performance coaches etc that are experts in their field….we have Skando and Leeds. Jobs for the boys yet again.

Skando maybe, Leedsy is the longest serving WT's employee. Only missed attending one game in 13 yrs

Fair enough he is a good dedicated clubman but does that mean he is the best and most qualified person for the job? As I said, most of the quality, forward-thinking clubs tend to have highly qualified fitness and high-performance coaches that have made sports-science, injury prevention etc their career. We on the other hand have ex-players filling nearly every one of these positions.
That is one of the reasons why we are always a step behind the trendsetting and high-achieving clubs in the NRL IMO. It needs to be looked at.

I read somewhere that the Storm have lighter impact training than any other side. Could be the secret. Focus on improving their brains and skills than their bodies. Maybe that's why they go through a whole forward pack every three years. They pick up athletes from other clubs, use em up without over working them until their price tag increases and then send them elsewhere.

You will notice that Adam Blair hasn't missed a game so far through injury in his tenure here I think.

Wouldn't he have missed a game with us though through injury if we train with heavier impact than what he is used to?

interesting about the light impact training.
injuries have a huge element of luck, but I have no doubt that there are things that can reduce some injuries

Interesting. It makes a huge difference in being able to perform on the field.

Has to be something the club is doing wrong, has to be, this year and last year, lots of injuries. Can't remember how many injuries we had in 2010 and 2011 though to compare though.

Should defiantley be a hig priority. If you keep everyone on the park and fit, you build cohesion, confidence, connections, etc… We need to step up our game in this department. Google one of these people and in return offer a life membership, or a small salary. Someone that will donate most of their time cause they love the club. The club would have to give 100% support to work though. Just a thought. (either that or a feng shui guy to set up the Gym!)
