You're not making much sense Happy….A Captain's Job to Interfere???????...... Were you sleeping during Dragonsgate last Year or have you been drinking again...

No I don't care if they speak to each other or exchange X Mass cards...as long as they do THEIR jobs to the best of their ability I'm fine with it....

Communication is vital tool for any administration.(CEO or Captain )
There must be a form of communication to be proficient in their jobs.

Absolutely nothing.

I agree Geo, no drama at all if farah and Mayer never speak. One is in administration and the other is in an entirely different department.

I've never met my CEO and would walk straight past him if I ever saw him. Doesn't affect my role at all and it shouldn't affect Farah's

One thing Iam a little confused with, Mayer was talking about how releasing players dosnt always translate into creating cap space as existing contracts tend to increase year by year. If this is the case at Concord, what would have happened if Blair,Austen and Gavet had not asked for a release??????Our cap would have been blown out of the water. Or has that cap space been directed towards upgrades or are we just plain broke.???

To be on the same page and direction.
So they can lead other's in the same direction.

I am not a Mayer fan he lost me last year when as CEO he was no where to been seen during our darkest hour.

I hope someone who attends the meeting of members, raises the need for transparency in the players contracts that makes up the cap, not the TPA component. I feel we are back loaded to the sh@thouse this year and maybe next.
My main concern for 2015 is that we have put a structure in place to move forward and time will only tell if it will deliver, **but we are going to be judged on our on-field performances**. I would like to see the targets that have been set for all who receive remuneration from our club, so we as members can decide as to the success of the structure and what I am sure is a large portion of our clubs financial spending.

We are members , not share holders !!

Not asking to share in the profits, just transparency as a member.

god damn, we are not bloody broke! we dont have money spilling out at the seams like the broncos or roosters but we're not even close to broke. No NRL club is, the nrl will help out such clubs and Dave Smith is ensuring all the clubs are financially stable (have good income streams) in the future.

if they hadnt left, i suspect we could have been in some trouble with the cap and might have had to tell some others to leave or downgrade contracts.

What blows me away with the membership site is that they haven't just posted a manual downloadable form on its cover page as a backup.

"If you have problems with this website, please complete this manual membership application form, scan it and email it to <memberships@weststigers.com.au>_Posted using RoarFEED 4.1.5_</memberships@weststigers.com.au>

"Statistically, the Wests Tigers is the least successful club in the past 15 years with just three finals appearances. This is clearly unsustainable and has been terribly disappointing for our Members, Corporate Partners and broader fan base."

Acknowledging our losing culture is a good first step which I believe club has lacked in past.

The new changes sound positive. I won't get too excited because still lots of issues (clearly salary cap a massive one) but hopeful for improvement.

Those further down the food chain don't even need to recognise each other but those at the top do. Without doubt the club Captain and club CEO would need to communicate.

Good communications is vital for success in any business and/or relationship.

Who said they aren't on the same page… as Sirro says...I wouldn't expect a Football Captain to be talking to a CEO about administering the Football Club or a CEO talking to a Football Player about playing football....Their Jobs

Problems we have had in the past...

with the players that are at the club this year we could not be any where near over the cap and if we are well we are a basket case.

Other than dissect each section of the email ..I have read it with an open mind and the information was enlightening and a lot to the point. I have no problem with the salary cap issues as is seems the club has employed people with a proven track record in these areas and believe at last the club will benefit . Great things are around the corner IMO starting this season the foundations have been laid I see no reason that within a couple of seasons the Tigers will be a force to be reckoned with.. Thanks Mr Mayer for the Email I just get the feeling that this great club has finally got the right people in the right places!

The salary cap is a lot more complicated than just looking at the players and saying we can't be anywhere near the cap. It is extremely complicated and most fans simple do not understand the finer details. Things such as payments to players outside the top 25 who play first grade from last year actually get applied to this years cap, remember the number of injuries we had last year so this causes issues. The biggest problem is the back loading of contracts, when most fans see a contract value published in the newspaper they assume that the contract will be spread evenly over the years of the deal. This is often not the case, for example Say Brooks is reported to be receiving $600 000 over 3 years. This contract might be broken down to
Year 1 $100 000
Year 2 $200 000
Year 3 $300 000

So if back loaded contracts are managed poorly and a lot of players have their big salary years at the same time then what can look like a weaker roster can be much closer to the cap. This was the problem at Penrith and the reason that they shed players such a Lewis and Jennings. Now for a hint where the Tigers are in regards to this issue have a look at the employment of Phil Moss from the Panthers who has experience in dealing with this exact issue.

Finally there is also front loading of contracts, maybe the tigers decided that there were not a lot of options that would benefit the team off contract last year so decided to do the reverse of the back loading and set up a salary structure for Brooks of
Year 1 $300 000
Year 2 $200 000
Year 3 $100 000

Leaving them space in their salary cap in future years to purchase players as more appropriate players become available.

Those are just a couple of examples that make just looking at a list of players and declaring we can't be near the cap a difficult statement.

Good post cochise…well explained

Thanks mate, it's also worth noting that many administrators mortgage the future for instant success. That's why back loaded contracts are so common and usually the problem they cause have to be cleaned up not by the people who negoiated the deals but the people that follow them. That I believe is the situation we are in now and the reason that Phil Moss was employed. The decision to employ Phil Moss gives me a lot of faith in the new board. They quickly identified a major problem and put someone in place with a recent history and successful record of dealing with that exact problem. This club is finally moving in the right direction.
