Great Spirit shown by Shannon McDONNELL

I was specifically referring to general play attack rather than all round game. I should have noted that. U know Gallant will hit the right hole and slide between defenders, but i have no faith in McDonnell ever running the right line.

Fair enough. I am still not sure we saw the best of McDonnell in first grade. His junior and reggies form always suggested he was a better player. I wonder if he was introduced too early.

McDonnell gave the Tigers a serve in todays paper too.

And you only saw a snippet of the story in the Tele. Wagga paper, through AAP I imagine, had a big spread which said a fair bit more!!!!!!

The way McDonnell plays he needs more size. He doesnt have any great timing when attacking and finds himself in awkward positions, someone like Gallant is the opposite and gets away with his size because he has a great attacking sense and finds himself naturally avoiding players rather than finding the collision like MacDonnell.

McDonnell gave the Tigers a serve in todays paper too.

Which paper? What did he say?

Todays telegraph. He said the Tigers were a place where u were told one thing but another thing happened or words to that effect. The article was based on him bagging us, or probably more Sheens. It wouldnt surprise me if what he said was true, but i think that sort of thing would happen often in every club.

I think any player that doesnt make it at any club would say the same thing. A club has to balance keeping fringe players keen with picking the best squad. McDonnell can have few complaints. He got quite a few chances in first grade before others with probably more claims. He was still in the mix at the beginning of last year.

LOL

McDonnell was hopeless. We had to let him go. He was terrible under the high ball and constantly got run down by forwards when he was supposedly the "quickest at the club". The only thing he was quickest at is tripping over himself and finding himself on the turf. And he was never better than Gallant. When McDonnell got dropped to NSW Cup Gallant stayed at fullback and McDonnell got moved to the wing. Shannon's defence was terrible too, even in NSW Cup.
