Not a significant game but 2 or 3 years ago we played Melbourne at Leichart on a monday night. Chris Lawrence scored a try from about our 2 after a trademark scrum move to seal the game after we had held the Storm off our line for about the last 20 mins. Being in the middle of the hill with everyone going mental was something i wont forget

I've only chosen Aussie ones here:

Australia's 1983 America's Cup win has to be up there for sure :righton:

Makybe Diva's third Melbourne Cup win - will probably never see a triple cup winner again in my lifetime! 😱pen_mouth:

Damien Oliver riding Media Puzzle to victory in 2002 Melb Cup, a week or so after his brother's death :bawling

All of Wests Tigers 05 finals wins, of course

Australian Women's Water Polo Gold in Sydney - beat the US by a free throw with 1 second on the clock :astonished:

Kieran Perkins 1500 m Gold in Atlanta :master:

Evonne Goolagong's (Cawley) 1980 Wimbeldon win - came back after having a baby

Dennis Lillee kicking Javed Miandad in the bum in Perth, 1981

1\. wests-tigers winning grand final in 2005.
2\. australia winning america's cup in 1983
3\. knights beating manly in dying seconds of grand final.
4\. cathy freeman winning gold at sydney olympic games.

Top of the list without doubt is Steve Waugh's career saving last ball of the day century at the SCG. I have the DVD and it still gives me tingles when i watch it.

is winning the america's cup such a big deal? it's just a bloody boat race!

A lot of great sporting moments posted by others, agree with most of them but for me, one of the greatest sporting memories was coaching an U14s rugby league team to a premiership. It took two years to achieve from U13s. Started with a team of kids some had played football some had limited or no experience, copped a few beltings in the U13's, one kid was a giant for his age but was very gentle his family couldn't afford boots luckily my old ones fit him. We gained two new kids at the start of the U14s both were good players and had a positive impact on the team. By the time they won the comp the kids had gone the full circle in terms of their own abilities and skills and confidence in themselves and just as importantly their parents got behind them. Their win on grand final day was a day to remember they were very proud and deserved it. On the scale of things it doesn't compare to the posts in this thread but for a local group of kids (and their coach) it was somethjng to remember. There would be plenty of other junior coaches who know what I mean- sport can be a great thing.

The US (due to amatuer rules ) could not pick any professionals while the Russians could choose their top notch side as they weren't classed as pros . So give you an example I guess it would be like a Qld side picked from the Qld cup players only beating NSW in origin . The Russians I think had not lost agame in over 20 years I think .

Remember that game well it was my birthday and was downing a few beers at the local sports club after a fantastic dinner their . Was surrounded by 8 storm supporters and was giving it to them . Then missus came back from pokies with around $600 . Great night

Watching a great moment in sport is one thing, being a part of a great moment in sport is something else. Wonderful story, Cunno, and well done!

Yeah not really, however I do remember that happening and the entire country got up early to watch it. Greatest bandwagon in the history of sport…...
