Former NRL CEO Todd Greenberg has landed himself a new role, swapping codes to become the new chief executive of the Australian Cricketers' Association.

For just over four years, Greenberg served as the boss of the NRL after taking over from Dave Smith.

Greenberg resigned from the position last year following the revelation of the league's disastrous financial situation, which was highlighted from the moment the NRL was forced to suspend the competition due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The former NRL boss said he was excited to move forward and take on a new challenge with Cricket Australia.

"I would like to thank the ACA board and the players for the opportunity to advocate for them. I have a long history with cricket - it's the game I first fell in love with - and am looking forward to the opportunity to work closely on their behalf in partnership with Cricket Australia and the state associations for the good of the game," Greenberg said.

"This is a role that comes with great responsibility and I am very much looking forward to meeting and speaking to as many players and members as I can over the coming months."

Cricket Australia's Interim CEO Nick Hockley added: "The role of CEO at the Australian Cricketers' Association CEO is an incredibly important one, and on behalf of Cricket Australia, I'd like to congratulate Todd Greenberg on his appointment.

Its a MASSIVE step down for the Greenburger. From the boss of the NRL to head of a union representing a few hundred people.

And probably still way above his skill level

Totally. Out of fun, google his employment history prior to his Bulldogs gig. He was over his head at the Bulldogs and a joke at NRL. Pretender.

Seems cricketers are about to enter a troubling period in their representation. May as well fold the association.

Todd has arrived just in time for Australia Day.

All I can say is....

God help the Australian Cricketers’ Association.

Would love to know how you get one of these gigs, it is almost like the more incompetent you were in your previous position, the more other organisations scramble to get you on board with them. It is absolutely astonishing to say the least.

At least his career is heading an trajectory (downwards) that more suits his skills, experience and qualifications. Greenburg has been out of a job for 9months. After such a high profile position, the best he can scratch out is boss of a small union? I suppose he has good experience of wasting other peoples money.
