What's going on with this guy? I can't see why he can't pay his own legal bills, if that was the problem.

Now he's in secret talks with Souths!

News Ltd might have something to say about any Souths deal…

Either way, both the NRL & the Storm need to put this to bed. It's becoming a joke now...

I just don't want to see another great player walk away… You talk loyalty, but I talk business and as a product, Rugby League needs to learn how to keep the great marketable players in the game. This whole salary cap rubbish needs to be thrown out the window and ALL clubs need to start operating as professional businesses.

Never met GI, so don't know why he chose to play for Qld, but I do know he made the choice during a period of Origin that was being dominated by NSW and still didn't want to play for you peanuts...

It was quoted on tonight's news that the dispute is over who will pay for Inglis' legal defence from when he was charged with assault. I don't follow, as Mrs T says why can't he pay his own legal fees?? If somebody doesn't pay my next parking fine, I'm not going to work.

He didn't use his legal team, the Storm used there's a GI doesn't believe he should pay.
 
This sounds a bit more complicated than is being reported probably should give Inglis the benefit of the doubt.

And its only been recently that the Storm have found out that $100 000 odd legal bill will be incorporated into the Salary Cap if the Storm pay it. So now there is a standoff, the Storm don't want to pay it, Inglis doesn't want to pay it, and I'm sure Brisbane don't either.

Why don't they just split it in 3 between Brisbane, Inglis and the Storm?

If the NRL really wanted to keep their stars, they would not incorporate this in the Storm's salary cap, or, pay the bill themselves. Surely spending $100 000 on a legal bill to keep Inglis in the game is a better investment then hanging onto it and letting a star like Inglis go to Europe!
 
It is ridiculous…

Didn't we get slugged with a breach a few years ago, because the club paid for Benji's family to watch some games in NZ that included airfares and accomodation, but the Tigers didn't include it in the Salary Cap?
 
This isn;t Inglis' fault, it's not Brisbane's fault and it's not the NRL's fault. It's Melbourne's fault.
They cheated and got caught and the latest part they've been caught in is these legal bills. If they hadn;t been caught out systematically cheating in the first place they would have payed all of these fees and buried it under some dodgy bookkeeping process.
Now it has seen the light of day they are still doing everything they can to minimise the impact of their cheating on their team next year and from their on in and try to force ex-players out of Australia (as they've done with a number of others) so they can weaken every other team in the comp.
The NRL should have the right to force the storm in decisions regarding their players and finances until everything has been demonstrated to be completely above board and sorted. If that means the cheats have to get rid of another of their better payed players to remain under the cap for next season then so be it.
 
Did Inglis get charged? If yes, he shouldn't be in the NRL and if he didn''t, then i guess Inglis should pay for it. So, either way, Inglis should be paying his legal fees. As some1 said, he has enuf money in the bag i think.
 
What a beat up.

If the Melbourne Fraud didn't breach the cap in first place, they wouldn't be torched the way they are now.
 
I can see Greg's side of the story. Yes, he was charged, but the Storm went out and got him a top legal rep. If he never asked for it why should he have to pay for it? Another ugly situation caused by the grubs south of the border.
 
Makes you wonder if the Cocks paid for Jake Friends legal representation and if they were forced to do the same?

pay sod all under the cap and get a rusty shelf company or one of his mates to chip in a fortune as an 'independent' 3rd party sponsor.
