Greg Inglis Super Thread!

Greg Inglis appears certain to be a South Sydney Rabbitoh within days after NRL rivals Parramatta were told not to waste their time trying to pursue the renegade star.

Just days after offering Brisbane boss Bruno Cullen a verbal and handshake assurance that he would finally sign off on a $1 million-plus package that has been in place for months, Inglis now looks set to head to Redfern in 2011.

The Broncos gave Inglis until Saturday to put pen to paper, but pulled the offer when he said he would not be returning from Sydney to sign the deal, with Brisbane learning he had headed south to discuss his playing future with "other parties".

It appears however that those other parties are just Russell Crowe's Rabbitohs, after cashed-up Parramatta were warned off making an approach to the Queensland and Australian centre.

"I spoke to his team yesterday and got the impression a deal was already done with him going to Souths," Eels chief executive Paul Osborne told AAP.

"We were virtually told not to waste our time."

Cullen admitted to a feeling of betrayal after Inglis said on Friday - as he'd done three days earlier - that he was still keen to sign with the Broncos.

He claimed he wanted to fly to Sydney to talk to his parents after a week with the Broncos rehabilitating his injured shoulder and meeting players and office staff.

"Greg indicated to us on Tuesday and again on Friday, face to face, that he was very keen to stay in Brisbane and very keen to play for the Brisbane Broncos and that he was going to Sydney to discuss it with his family and he'd be back on Saturday," said Cullen.

"He told me eyeball-to-eyeball on Tuesday and again on Friday, including handshakes.

"We said (to Greg) when you come back on Saturday, we'll get that contract signed away and it will all be done and dusted."

But Cullen said things quickly went sour as he learned of talks between Inglis and several other clubs and codes.

"I don't need to mention who those people were (that Inglis met with), they were from different codes and different clubs," Cullen said.

"We contacted Greg and asked him to make sure he was back on Saturday to sign the contract.

"He advised us about 12.30 or 1.30 Saturday afternoon he wouldn't be signing his contract.

"By then we'd already made the decision that if that was his response, we'd fall back on it, and we have."

Cullen could not hide the disappointment of missing out on a player he described as "the best in the world".

"Very disappointed obviously.

"Greg is a world class player, if not the best in the world at the moment when he's fit.

"It's disappointing to lose a player of that quality but it's more disappointing to know we have in writing a signed off agreement that we struck five or six months ago with Greg and his manager (Allan Gainey) for Greg to play here.

"The club is bigger than any one player.

"It's disappointing to lose a player of that quality but at the end of the day he didn't want to be here."

Inglis was only granted a release by Melbourne to sign with Brisbane on compassionate grounds to be with fiance Sally Robinson, and officially remains contracted to Melbourne for 2011-2012.

Cullen had a shot at NRL clubs who had chipped away at Inglis in recent months.

"I don't want to be nasty to the other clubs, it's all fair in love and war," he said.

"(But) … they obviously knew we had an agreement with him in writing for him to join us but they also knew he hadn't signed anything and he hadn't been released from Melbourne."

So how does his release stand now?? Brisbane for compassionate grounds and end up in Sydney. Bs to me.

Hope he ends up in France! Seems to be a common factor between him and the other one that went to France.

I was of the understanding that the Wiggle that is a Tigers fan is no longer a Wiggle, I'm in no man's land here, the Wiggles came after my kids were born but before my Grand kids, it was Greg the Blue one?.
In regards to the signing of Lote we were fortunate that he put his roots down in Tigers Territory with his purchase of a home and where his children were to be schooled, I'm not sure of the financial side of things but the fact that the Tigers actively pursued him with a great mantra is what sold him on being a Tiger, I guess?.

How good is this line in the SMH on the Weekend.

**In an interview with The Sun-Herald in September 2008, Mundine spoke for the first time about his ties with Inglis, promising to offer him the same ''help'' he provided renegade Bulldog Sonny Bill Williams.**

That's Great news for the bunnies fans

 He's from Kempsey Spartan. Thats NSW brother!!!

Yeah I understand the Geography bit.

His QLD traits seem to coming to the surface Watto.. The Cheating, lack of loyalty etc… That's Why I back your earlier point where he was compelled to wear the Moron colours despite his being from Kempsey...

You come across as an awesome bloke Watto, I'll shout you a beer when you come to Syd next time (Even though I dont drink) Where you by chance also born in NSW???

the tele says the signinig of GI will make them 2nd favourite behind the dragons. dunno about that. even if they made the finals, history shows that u have to be in the top 4 to win the comp, and then u have to win at least 3 finals games in a row. sutton n sandow r too inconsistent 4 souffs to make top 4, let alone win 3 finals games IMO

the whole thing seems to have been handled really poorly on inglis's behalf. u can tell hes falling in with the mundine/k.nasser crowd

GI squeezed ever last cent he could from Melbourne, legally and illegally. He was part of the reason why the Storm will be struggling for the next 5 years. The least he could do is pay the lousy 100 g's. I'm willing to bet that's chump change compared to all the money he got from the Storm in brown paperbags.

Now for the Broncos deal. The guy shook Andrew Gees hand and gave him his word. In my eyes and any other man's eyes that's a done deal. Now not only did he re-neg but he insulted Gee's intelligence by saying he wasnt coming up to sign the contract cause it's raining in Sydney and the planes weren't flying. He certainly has shown through all this how much of a grub he really is but look at who he's associating himself with, Anthony Mundine and Khoder Nasser. The architects of the Sonny Bill Williams fiasco and now we have the Greg Inglis fiasco. Mundine and Nasser are scum of the highest order.

Not a chance… Queensland Blood through and through. Its also where I get my good looks from

Down for most home games at the SFS and Leichhardt, so a beer is always a good chance...

Cheers.

GG isnt too intelligent brother… but he wont be happy and will most likely give GI a spray (clip in the ear will be the most likely option from him) in February when they all come together for an Origin Camp.

Either way, poor form to have a gentleman's agreement and the reneg on the deal.

IMO, he'll go from accepting brown bags from under the table at Melbourne to taking them from under Rusty's table at Redfern…
