Grim reality of 2018?

Sorry Eddie but its a bit early to call. We need to see the other players that Ivan brings in on the bus. I think we are on the right track and just need to keep developing players like Brooks, Suli, MKC, Josh A, JJ Felise and others, put them on the paddock with our current and new "old Heads" (Reynolds, McQueen and Matalino) and we should develop into a competative side in 2018\. In Ivan we trust…................

All true.

I still think there is hope for next year. Tedesco is a loss but that is where it ends.

I think players like Brooks, Suli, Nofo & Idris can get us some points. I'd love for us to get another gun winger and a quality fullback. We can't replace Tedesco but a couple more players will compensate us for losing him.

Clearly is also a good coach. I feel confident that the rebuilding that we are doing now is going to be on much more solid ground.

Don't think it'll be as painful compared to previous player turnover. Tedesco obviously can't replace a talent like that but the rest are replaceable.
Once our recruitment is done, we'll have a better understanding of where we stand.
I have confidence in cleary and egan rebuilding the squad.

I think next year we'll move from a left and right halves set up to a floating halves set up, like what the Roosters are using St the moment. That'd allow Brooks to run everything and Reynolds to just inject himself into the game, as opposed to being in charge of a side of the field on his own.

Tedesco is a massive loss but without knowing his replacement hard to say how we'll go next year. I'd say, based on how we play now with a Cleary off season, we should be a 6th - 10th team.

Tedesco is undisputedly a great player but at times he distorts our attack because the focus of the attack is slanted towards giving him ball. Shut down Teddy and our attack suffers. So it is possible that losing Tedesco will have a net positive on our attack. I know we're all a bit over rebuilds but this one is starting to get some depth about it. The core is locked in for 2019\. I don't see 2018 as being dire at all - we've got fewer players worrying about armchair shrinks getting on the payroll or contract dramas. We've got a coach who has plans grounded in reality rather than new age ideas. The player run boys club is being closed up - we've got a chance to establish a new culture based on commitment and loyalty.

The lack of strike power on the field was not because Tedesco was missing. It was because we had a reserve grader at best playing fullback. I guarantee if we had someone like Lolohea playing in fullback in place of Tedesco, things would have been different.

Loloheas a reserve grader…
