Halfback??? Lui, Moltzen or Miller

Miller doesn't have the respect of senior playmakers like Lui and Moltzen.

Watch the Titans game again.

King Sirro's post is spot on. In the modern game team's play with two halves as opposed to a half and a 5/8th. Benji is is our best half and best 5/8th but he can't always be the 1st receiver. IMO Lui is better at half and 5/8th when Benji is playing the other halve position. But Lui looks bad because Dwyer's leaving him exposed.

If Lui is injured Moltzen should be given a go at half. Agree with the posts about Dwyer needing to pick up his defence, he is big enough to hold a bull out to pee and should be a player his opponents don't want to go near when running the ball.

Good point Cunno. Why is Dwyer not an effective defender? We saw him flatten Warea-Hargreaves so why can't he protect Lui?

i recon stick with lui..all he needs is one good game and his confidence will be restored and therefore his defence will improve

miller would take several weeks to get up to 1st grade standard and even after that he would be up and down

re moltzen, i still havent seen anything suggesting he is back to his best form after coming back from inujury

Barring injuries Sheens will not flick lui half way through the season especially while we are winning. Miller looks a prospect but you are not going to throw him the keys to the car at the business end of the season. They may fiddle around with Moltzen playing some six and Benji playing seven but really now is not the time to be changing things around. Maybe the answer is getting Lui's defensive game up to scratch or coming up with a effective strategy to protect and assist him with his defensive work. Lets face it, it worked for Benji a few years back

anyone who doesn't think moltzen is better than lui is obviously an idiot!!!

All Lui has to do is fix his D…to those who want Moltz at half...have you seen his D..?...biggest arm grabber in the team...and his attack is not better than Lui's...so what's the question....Sheens and Folkes needs to teach Lui how to tackle..simple.

I think people have to be wary of always dreaming on the next kid. I've only seen bits of Miller but we were early enough to the ground on Sunday to see most of the 20s game and he looked nowhere near ready in attack or defence. He was getting run over in tackles, passing was ok at best, kicking very inconsistent and every time he did something on the run he seemed to end up dropping the ball. Add to that the fact that the 20s seem to be playing left and right side so Miller's not getting the ball as often as a true half anyway and I'd be extremely wary of anointing him the 7 of the future over both Lui and Moltzen at this stage.

Disclaimer 1: yes, that was just one game. But trust me, if Miller put in a performance like that in first grade it would do a lot to calm the feverish talk about him.

Disclaimer 2: this doesn't mean I think Lui's going well. My mate and I were discussing on Sunday night whether the Lui hook means he's going to be left out on Sunday - with McKinnon fit and Simona going ok so far we could easily shift Moltzen to 7 with, presumably, Lui on the bench. The only things Lui seems to have going for him are the fact that we kept letting tries through for a bit after he came off on Sunday, and that Moltzen was barely part of the comeback. Then again, Marshall had about ten times more ball in the last 20 minutes.

I agree with this. It seems like Miller is the flavour of the month on here, much like Lazarus was last year before he played first grade. People should remember that when Lui was in under 20s he was winning games on his own and leading the comp in try assists and line break assists, Miller is not at that level in the 20s yet.

Miller has huge potential, but at this stage him replacing an uninjured Lui would not be good for our chances this year. Apart from the fact he's very young and will make mistakes, the rest of the team are not used to Miller and will not be able to read what he's doing (like what happened earlier this year in first grade).

I don't think he's the best long term option but at this stage of the year if Lui is injured or continues to miss tackle after tackle, Moltzen should be halfback.

1 Miller is not ready yet 18 months in either NYC and NSW cup will make him a much better and confident player
2 Lui is the best of the three half backs , but I get this feeling that he does not fit into the style that Benji and Robbie prefer to play
3 Moltzen Second best option , but I get this feeling that his style of play suits Benji and Robbie better
4 Fulton well he seemed to be playing as more the second reciever on Sunday against Warriors after Lui went off and he defence is the best of the lot
So what do you do ?? Hope Lui defence improves or play Moltzen . I think stick with Lui and move Ellis or Fulton in the defensive line beside Lui and bring Dwyer on a rampaging running back off the bench IMO

all i have to say is that lui went off on sunday moltzen goes into half at 22-4 and look what happened… we atrted to have structure up the middle lui just runs sideways

No I'm guessing that the forwards started to go forward and making inroads into a tiring Warriors pack and we started working off having the warriors on the back foot in defence . Lui going off was just a coincidence in my opinion and was probably brought off as Sheens was possibly thinking we could struggle to get back into the game and he was struggling with an injury and wasn't worth risking it getting any worse . That what I saw when I watched the game both times anyway .

No Matter which young players plays 7, theyare all going to be irratic in from with the lack of first grade experience, we will have to live with it for another season or two if lui stays with us tbh. But if yo uwatch closely we won that last twenty minutes last week because benji was playing first receiver, not moltzen

We let our best half go when nicholls wasn't given a chance .Lui defense costing team -tigers won many games when moltzen played at half and has struggled at centre.Simona should be in centers-similar player to Lawrence

wow, now I have really seen it all on this forum….

and christ, I haven't been here as long as most....

I swear including nicholls and hearing a while a go people whinging about Florimo covers pretty much EVERY SINGLE FREAKIN potential half or 5/8 being discussed as getting a raw deal/being underutilised in the past three to four years.

seriously. and the kicker is, we aren't even stringing losses together at the moment!!

God knows what would happen if we put together a few losses in a row!
