Hanging onto 2005

You know at the time & i’ve said as much on here I was fuming with the sacking of Madge & at the time thought it was a shocking decision as he deserved the chance with this team for this year. In hindsight it probably was the right decision as we were travelling poorly & weren’t doing as well as we’d hoped.

But has there ever been a club whose hung onto a past premiership win as much as we have? All we’ve heard about in our entire existence is 05 this 05 that, it happened over 15 years ago. Top teams find new ways to win premierships off an existing foundation which our club hasn’t learned to do. Instead we’ve hired Sheens again even though his last spell here ended in disaster & brought back all of the 05 playing group who have no coaching experience whatsoever to come & coach.

When are we ever going to learn to try do things a new way? Why are we so obsessed of hanging onto things of the past. Re Tim Sheens Re Luke Brooks.

We were promised change & yet all we’re seeing is more of the same & I’m honestly fed up. But i’m the sucker that will sit here & still support this club week in week out & expect change which won’t happen….

WSB,dont feel your alone mate,I do agree and I have said it previously,while we keep hanging on to the past performers and coaches in this new era,we will be where we are...we need professionalism at the highest order to at least perform at NRL level week to week...past glory and players are just that PAST...out with the old and in with the new...

Yep one can never move forward whilst always looking backwards, it’s impossible. Try driving while constantly looking in your rear vision mirror, eventually you are gonna crash.

Yeah I hate all the 05 talk and comparisons.
We have entered our 18th season since that happened.
Some of the guys in our top 30 were still soiling their nappies when that run of games were played.

Man I am with you. I almost quit this forum entirely at the start of the year and may do so soon.

I just want to point out. Luke Brooks wasn't part of the 2005 squad and has never proven himself as either an Origin player or a finals player. Sure 2014 he found form, but that's a long time ago(that first year under Cleary). Any other player would have been shopped to the Superleague, Brodie C style.

I do see a little promise with the Knights, our defense tightened. Brooks still did not lead the team.

I get the club choosing the plan it did. I just don't get why. Someone should have told Benji to stay with Triple M and be an assistant in the background. Yes we can coach him to first grade coaching level but No we should not be promissing the reigns.
