@Paris Cobbs said:If what the Telegraph reports is true (did I just type the word 'true' in the same sentence as 'Telegraph'? What was I thinking?) and all Bryce said was "That's typical of you Mormons - always wanting to be everybody's mate", that isn't vilification anyway. It's just harmless sarcasm. To vilify someone you have to say something that would lower the opinion of other people about him. How would that remark give anyone a lower opinion of Ben Hannant?
How can some subjects be OK for sledging and others not? Why is it wrong for someone to make a joke based on Hannant's religious affiliations, but OK for someone to make a joke about Bryce based on, say, his westie 'trailer-trash' origins or the fact that his only friend is Liam Fulton! Bryce and Liam used to be called 'Dumb and Dumber', apparently - why can't that be just as hurtful? Is it funny to be stupid?
If there are 'sacred' subjects that aren't appropriate as sledges, the the NRL should specify what they are.
