Has Potter done a better job this year or last?

A few weeks ago this was a no brainer but of late his lineups have been headscratchers (tonight and particularly the Broncs lineup were insulting) and recently he just hasn't been getting the performances out of the team.

On a number of occasions now the team has shown little ability to perform to whatever gameplan they had (Dragons, Titans, Souths, Roosters) yet little accountability has been shown with no players dropped. Farah makes a huge difference but if Anasta, Blair and Lawrence are so experienced why don't they lead by example and justify their automatic weekly selections? I'm not seeing it.

Lastly, people have said how much we clearly miss Gavet. It seems that way. So WTF are we playing three utilities and asking for 30 minutes from Tapau and 20 from Sironen? The lightweight tactics aren't working.

I trust the bloke. There's been (expected) improvement this season. But he got seriously outcoached by Maguire tonight and I think he's persevered with the same guys a little too often. Curious to see our progress over the second half of the season.

No he has not.

Potter has been BLESSED with two young kids named James Tedesco & Luke Brooks.

I have been a critic in the past but he has earnt a bit of latitude this year.

However, what I cant fathom is why we have moved from a large bench early in the year, which was successful, to a bench with two hookers.

We are warping our entire structure to have Austin on the bench because Potter doesnt want to dump Anasta.

That being said, Austin has real issues in his game that he needs to work on. Too much one out and unstructured play. I can see why Potter hasnt been convinced enough to start with Austin at 6.

You can't blame him for stupid penalties and so much dropped ball.
Very poor games by plenty tonight.

One one thing I'd like to hear is what Potter's game plan was tonight

I would of peppered Tuqiri with so many bombs he would of thought he was in WW3

And with the side we picked we should of been rotating dummy halves and just been slamming Souths up the guts

I know ball control affected some of what we did , but we didn't target Tuqiri once in that first 10 minutes when we had some control

Maybe Austin over does the one out stuff; but it has got us back into the game 3 times this year when he has scored from it so I am happy to cut him a lot of slack.

Blair and Lawrence really peeved me off tonight. You need your experienced guys leading not dropping balls and giving away penalties.

The more minutes Austin gets the more he goes missing in action.

Lote should have been targeted, but we got barged off our game plan and panicked.

I don't blame the coach, anytime we got ball we threw it away and then followed it up with a penalty. We defended well in periods and because of that we ran out of gas.

I knew it would be an up and down season but that one hurts.

Yes you can. Forwards got tired and lazy.

The forwards tackled their backsides out in the first half - we copped a heap of penalties and dropped too much ball .
This continued in the second half!
Our playmakers did zilch in the first half, with no direction from dummy half, Brooks making poor choices and Tedesco unsighted.
You would have been tired too , Milky - but they weren't being lazy.

You miss understood me mate, we didn't have enough forwards on the bench so out forwards got tired. Caused them to miss tackled etc

Spot on Milky. It seems that the only other person that doesn't see this is Potter himself.

They had to do more tackles than normal because of so many unforced errors and stupid penalties.
Plus we also had one of them watching watching from the sideline.
I agree we shouldn't have taken two hookers into the game - I would have left Luani out.
Allowing for that the poor discipline made it even harder for the pack,

Look I don't blame Potter for tonight

Tonight was a perfect example why SOO should be stand alone football games

The standard of footy tonight was pretty bad from both teams who with both teams at full strength would of produced an absolute ripper of a game

But that's another subject

Potter for what even reason picked a side that had two small men on the bench against a side that only goes one way and thats the power game up the middle and okay some players turned in shockers but I dont think we had a chance after he picked the side on Tuesday night
