Hastings/Brooks/Moses

After the last few weeks of Jackson Hastings in first grade, where is he in relation to Moses and Brooks? IMO he's been playing at the level most believe Brooks and Moses are at. Take into account Hastings is a yr younger and played half the amount of games of the other two.

Hastings is bigger and stronger so doesn't have to contend with playing well above his weight which is a big advantage. That being said he looks a good one. I don't care to much for any comparisons with our young halves and others as they don't mean much to me personally. I like to see all halves play well, especially the young ones.

My fave player ATM outside the Tigers is Ben Hunt. Would love to see him guide the Broncos to a premiership just because I admire how he plays and how he persevered early in his career.

Hastings has a great kicking game, especially short. I have not seen our boys excel in the kicking department, but it has to be noted Hastings is playing in a team littered with internationals, our two youngsters have a few good ones around them but there are plenty of plodders.

Like others it seems Hastings has class written all over him,but lets see how he handles second season syndrome

Did you see the kick he put in, on the run for SKD? Had no time, was almost reflex and it was pin point. That sort of play has nothing to do with whose around you.

So true. Halfbacks playing behind a huge pack of intimidating forwards play so much better.

You're right bp, our young blokes surrounded by that team would be superstars.
Hastings is a good player no doubt, but in our team he'd be going backwards faster than an Italian tank.

All comes down to coaching.

Look at Melbourne with Duffy, Mann, Munster etc. They dont "need time" they are delivering on the big stage right now!

There are no excuses offered or accepted, just a sense of duty to perform and a coach who prepares them for that mental challenge.

At Wests Tigers we have the talent, we dont have the system or the coach to develop and prepare the talent.

what rubbish, it comes down to what u have to work with and we dont have the forward power to break a egg.

Melbournes' senior players drive the culture down there. Unfortunately so do ours. That's been addressed now.

Hastings is good !
Better than Pearce I reckon !

How can anyone compare where Hastings is at when he plays with that side ??

Put Brooks or Moses in the Roosters side and they'd look like Lewis / Sterling

As i said there are no excuses offered or accpeted, the coach prepares them to perform regardless.

Way too simplistic to just say its squad strength, its only a small part of it.

Hilarious - cant believe you are buying this 'culture rubbish talk. Biggest smoke screen ever used to excuse the inadequacies of our management and coaching staff since the end of the Sheens era.

I reckon it comes down to a mixture of all of the reasons mentioned above:

1\. Hastings definitely has a lot of talent
2\. He is thriving in a team that is coached extremely well and he is coached to his strengths
3\. The forward pack is strong and dominating in most of their matches, thus giving him room to move & create
4\. He has a stack of rep and big game players all around him for support
5\. He is entrenched in a team/club renowned for its winning culture and environment of success

And this all adds up to the player he is rapidly becoming now, imo.

Roosters have Trent Robinson and the players believe in him and his ability. He also has good player management and communications skills. Taylor doesn't possess these qualities and from what we've witnessed this year the players question his methods.

He looks fine - he is just a small part of that 17 at present though, they've barely given him any responsibility.
The kick for SKD's try was an absolute pearler, but then look at the bomb right at the end of the game - a truly awful option when they needed him to step up.
He's got a team full of internationals around him, and they've catered their game so he can cope, whereas we've thrown our guys in at the deep end with a bunch of nuffies around them (relatively).

Agree most of the players around Brooks and Moses are ordinary.

But then so are they.

To think 2 guys playing in the halves have played roughly 70-80 games without a MOM award says it all.

Our coach couldn't shine Bellamy's shoes.
