Have we found our fullback?

Pretty sure when Hodgo left he mentioned Beau as being the possible long term replacement. Looked very solid in the no.1

At times the Coach has made some strange selections, but this one was inspirational…...

Showed enough the other night to suggest he will make a great fullback.

I think part of the reason he will make a good fullback is that he's just so fit. I think from memory he's the fittest in the team. And to add to that he's very safe under the high ball.

That's the only doubt I had about Tuqiri playing there, I can't see Tuqiri making 24 runs in a game, and if he does it won't be until half the season is over.

Ryan's not going to break the line from Benji's passes as much as Moltzen did, but he's better at everything else needed for a fullback.

He looked very good indeed….the only question is who takes his wing spot until TNT returns.....Brown was ok but not sure of him long term

He gets us on the front foot doesn't he? I'd like to think he did enough to get another crack and I'd like to see him string 3 games like that together, but on Friday's performance I'm sold!

Beau played impressively. He wasn't really tested - Eels kept putting it up on Lote's side - and he didn't have to do much in defence at the back, so another few weeks might be required before he gets the spot full time. Still, he was better in this one game than Moltzen's been in his many.

The part of his game that I was most impressed with was for once Beau was actually making an effort to run the ball back. It makes a big difference to the set and really gets us on the front foot.

He's been better than Moltzen under the high ball for a while and runs the ball back hard with real intent. I'm sold, I have always liked his work rate, give him a decent crack at fullback Sheens he deserves it.

I agree with Hodgo….Beau Ryan at Fullback....He had a cracker on friday...Some of his kick returns, terrific.
I want see him get more time there....same goes for moltz at half

yeh, but he doesnt chime into the backline like moltzen or hodgo - he's a different type of fullback, otherwise, sheens limits his role there until such time

I think that will come in time. Once he settles into the role he'll have more opportunity to hit holes outside Benji and moltz. The reason i say this is whenever ive seen Beau play in the centres his ability to hit a hole impressed me. If he can form a combo with our halves we could have a fullback that scores plenty of tries and does all the hard work which gets us on the front foot. Im looking forward to seeing how he goes over the next few weeks.

I think thats an excellent point. His fitness keeps him in the game for the full 80, constantly annoying the opposition.

Ryan played well on Friday. Hodgo did make that comment late in 08 and I always wondered why he let so many flat passes from Benji go into touch last year. Reason… He is a Fullback!!!

Lote is better (just like TNT) taking the second ruck forward rather than kick return. Id even like to see lote come off a inside pass from Benji or Farah through the ruck??!!!

Good Luck Canberra!!!

It was only one game, but Beau was very impressive. If he keeps on performing like that, he can stay there for sure.
