Jarryd Hayne could lose his $400,000 personal sponsor if he chooses not to take up his option to remain on the Gold Coast next year.
>
Hayne's commitment to the club remains headline news, so much so that the New York Post ran an Associated Press report under the blazing headline: "Rugby star's NFL experiment may have ruined his career."

>
The cross-code star has until May to trigger a contract extension, which no longer appears a fait accompli following revelations the Titans fined him over his attitude to training over the summer. The incident resulted in Hayne's sacking from the leadership group, although he was reinstated when the players returned from their Christmas break.
>
**Norm Black, the founder of TripADeal, spent $400,000 a year above his club sponsorship to ensure Hayne became a Titan.** That sum remains on the table for next season, although Black revealed he may reconsider if "The Plane" left the holiday strip.

Bennett slams media, backs embattled star Hayne
The Hayne questions that caused coach to walk out
"He's our brand ambassador and we haven't gotten that far yet," Black told Fairfax Media.
>
"Obviously one of the things I'm really big on is we come from that team mentality. It would depend on where Jarryd would go. Obviously our loyalties lie with the Titans, so for us to go literally against the Titans – if Jarryd Hayne wasn't in rugby league, quite possibly, sure [we could part company].
\
\
\
"If he was involved in rugby league at another club, we'd probably find that quite difficult.
>
"That's the long and the short of that."
>
Black steadfastly defended Hayne against suggestions he was bad for team culture and quipped his company was enjoying the "free publicity" that came with their association.
>
"Anyone who says Jarryd isn't committed doesn't know the guy. He is totally committed to that club," Black said.
>
"I had breakfast with [coach] Neil [Henry] before the [Roosters] game and the conversation was around how impressed he was with how Jarryd had bought in with his attitude and training.
>
"If I thought at any point that Jarryd Hayne was a disruptive, arrogant so-and-so, I wouldn't want to be associated with him. But that is so far from who he is."
>
Michael Ennis is the latest league luminary to intimate that the Titans are better off without Hayne, suggesting the club had gone "backwards" since his arrival.
>
The former San Francisco 49er is yet to speak publicly since the revelations of his fine, instead fuelling the fire with a series of tweets in response to the story. The dramas have only intensified the interest in his next performance, against Newcastle at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday.
>
The Titans signed Hayne to a two-year, $2.4 million deal and the fullback has a two-month deadline to activate the second season.
>
"In the time I've spent with Jarryd Hayne at home or with our families, Jarryd is driven more by achievement than money," said Black, whose company extended its relationship with the Titans until the end of 2019.
>
"He's not going to stop being a big deal. The only way he stops being a big deal is if the performances on the park don't keep stacking up to what the resume reads.
>
"Blind Freddie would realise that if Jarryd Hayne doesn't put the performances in, the gloss is coming off. That won't take away from what he's achieved prior.
>
"Clubs won't be chasing Jarryd Hayne if he is not performing on the paddock, that's the bottom line … I'm fascinated that something that was dealt with four months ago – which happens in every other rugby league club in this country – can have such a big bearing."

I thought this was against NRL third party rules. ie club sponsor cannot be a third party sponsor.
Hang on, the NRL own the Titans

Hayne is starting to remind me of a SBW,he is trying all different sports to excell in making him a superb athlete in his eyes..fair enough,do whatever you want to in life,I just get sick of reading about him or hearing other's talk about him….If he has a contractual agreement with the Titans, then fulfil that obligation to the best of your ability, don't just let reputation do the talking..
I would rather take interest in how GI will recover from a horrible injury suffered last week as he is an athlete and humble person,or how the young rookies are going to go this year, all young players from all clubs...its about rugby league for me ,not someone grandstanding about how good they are or what sport they are going to dabble in next..

Inglis humble? I reckon his lording over Tedesco after scoring a try against him last season proves he is far from humble IMO.

Ennis was a grub on the field, yet you hear nothing but good things about him off the field. Its called white line fever.

My issue is that basically the Fox Footy journos are DT based and they all have agendas

When you look at some pre season NRL clubs , some were professionally done and really informative , ours was treated as a joke

Listened to Gallen speaking about Hayne , he was saying that Jhayne plays his best when he is mollycuddled by coaches and management

Neil Henry is the complete opposite , he treats the 19 year old fringe player the same way he treats his Superstars

Jhayne wouldn't like that , maybe get Tarzan ….

I can't see anything that says they are a club sponsor?

Did you read what I put in bold?
It says he paid $400000 "above his club sponsorship"

Club affiliated sponsors can spend a certain amount on TPA's. There's a limit I cannot remember what it is though, Geo would likely know.

They can but I think it's limited .. and over the entire squad…

There are provisions for club sponsors to enter into agreements with elite players under the Marquee Player Agreement allowance.

$600,000 - Marquee Player Allowance - any or all of the Top 25 players at each club can share in payments made by club sponsors seeking to use a player's intellectual property. These may be guaranteed in the playing contract by clubs.

Wonder what sort of fever Greggy had when he assaulted his missus?
He is also known to be susceptible to 2nd contract fever and it's offshoot "free boat fever". Poor bloke.

If Hayne wants to go to rugby, then see ya later.
He is not bigger than the game, and it has shown that it works fine without him.

Anyone with knowledge of the inner dealings of the eels during Haynes time there will tell you that he did what he wanted and no one could get him inline. Heard senior officals would be begging him to come mingle with club sponsors and other big club benefactors and he would snub his nose at turning up and rather hang with his mates.

Surprised all this ego stuff is only coming up now after his dud nfl attempt and new life at the titans. Problem was the eels let it ride for so long and now at the titans they're trying to pull him into line and it ain't working. This guy has been like this for years, always has always will.

Now is a perfect time for this goose to sign with union. Hopefully yesterday was the last time we see him in a league jersey.
