Heighington and Payten re-sign with Wests Tigers

maybe the fact that coach and captain are on australian duties…might wait to announce it with them two there???

Geeze Geo, I'm eagerly waiting for this announcement now.

I hope it is announced this week along with Lawrence's resigning.

Wow if thats correct Im stoked I love Heighno so much. He has been ignored by the Origin selectors which is a pity but great for us. Love Rhino

central cost bears for sure.

I have my doubts - he is a very loyal Tiger and has stated he would love to a be a 10-year player at the club!

2013 makes it 11 - if it does happen - I get the impression Geo may have put the mock on it!

Payten and Heighington sign new deals with Wests Tigers
10/12/2010 12:14:38 PM
Wests Tigers has today announced new deals for two of the Club's most experienced forwards in prop Todd Payten and second-rower Chris Heighington.

Both off contract at the end of next season, Payten's new one-year deal will see him remain at Wests Tigers until the end of 2012.

Heighington has extended his contract for a further two years and will remain at Wests Tigers until the end of the 2013 season.

The respected forwards have played 402 NRL matches between them.

"One of the milestones I am looking to achieve is to play 300 NRL games,'' Payten said, who has played 247 matches in the NRL.

"I do need a few things to go my way but I think it would be a pretty fair achievement for a front-rower to do that in his career."

Heighington said he jumped at the chance to re-sign with the Club that he began with in 2003\. He would have spent 11 seasons at Wests Tigers by the time his new deal finishes in 2013.

“I’m very happy at Wests Tigers. I enjoy the Club and the camaraderie amongst the players, so it feels like home,'' he said.

“I owe a fair bit to coach Tim Sheens and to the Club. Wests Tigers will always have first bite at keeping me. "

These two guys will provide not only what we know they can do on the field but also their experience and work ethic will be invaluable in continuing to build the culture for our young forwards to grow into.

Very happy

great news … we need to have these two guys around to help the fifita's and dwyers develop their undoubted abilities.
