Hey have you heard about this show called 'The Voice'?

Apparently it's the show that Australia can't stop talking about. You might have missed it, because it's not advertised very much. I only heard about it because I heard Ray Warren talk about how good it was and how much he thoroughly enjoyed watching it, and Gus agreed. Now, I'm a footy fan and don't usually watch many of these high-profile on-the-minute talent shows, but with such a glowing endorsement from two of League's most honest men, I felt it was surely worth checking out and I'm hooked!

Do you think there are maybe a few endorsements we could shear off here and there? I mean, what's a 20 second in-commentary cross-promotion earn us? Is it worth the loss of integrity? Not to mention it's just downright annoying

And also I'm concerned we're in a position where the NRL is so reliant on betting revenue it couldn't curb the endless deluge of "BET NOW! YOU CAN BET NOW! BET NOW!" even if it wanted to

Saw bits of the voice, mildly entertaining but really there was only a couple of them that were any good.
The worst part was the judges fawning over them like love sick teenagers along with every chanell 9 tv personality. Stefanovic being one of the worst…what a jerk off that try hard is.

Saw ads for big brother Happy.,...cant believe that rubbish has been resurected. It goes for yonks as well.

ch9 takes the footy audience for granted. their treatment of the second friday night game and the sunday game tells me they have no respect for footy whatsoever. this is unlike afl where the build up to every game on 7mate is so massive. i for one hope badly ch9 don't get the fta rights.

also gus, if you like SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT LEICHARDT soo much then maybe you should show it live. ch9 are total scumbags.

That's why I don't have facebook :laughing: That said, the girl who actually won this show has the most incredible voice. I hadn't watched any of it until the end when I caught a bit of her singing and thought stuff me, she is really good! It's so refreshing to hear a bluesy Janis Joplin type voice again after all these years. And a central coastie as well - gotta give em a plug! :slight_smile:

I sometimes give the 9 replay the flick, IQ Fox's later replay which conveniently edits the ads for me

9 is a real step back when you have to endure it. Painful.

Yeah but some of us don't want to pay 60 bucks a month just to avoid product-placement. With the internet these days, pay TV is kind of obsolete. Gone are the days when you're at the mercy of TV scheduling. Plus you can just watch the foxtel matches on the internet. And despite the corporate whoring, Nine generally do a better job of coverage and presentation than fox.

What gets me the most is the idea that they think people are stupid enough that they'll believe that someone like Ray Warren actually watches these shitty mass-produced talent shows. It's insulting.
