Highlights of the late tiger Jacin Sinclair

I have a strong feeling it was a suicide, bluetige judging by the news reports… 😢

Prescription medication. Yet to be determined if it was a reaction like Heath Ledger or deliberate

Wow. That was a blast from the past! Thank you! Wonderful memories. My close mate Jared and I were big fans of Jacin Sinclair when we both were supporting the mighty Tigers in NZ as youngsters. I think the only thing that prevented him further honors was his bad reputation on the footy field, unfortunately he used to let his mouth overshadow his talents but boy, he was good!
I loved seeing that flick pass v Illawarra. Jacin & Will Robinson used to combine so well. Balmain should've made the finals that year ('92). Started the first half so strongly but, if I recall, we're upset by the Gold Coast at home(?) which dented the confidence & sudden slide down the ladder. The final punch in the balls was a crucial Fri? Night clash v Magpies for a finals spot in Top 5 that we lost 9-6 (never forget that low score). That finally ended our finals hopes i recall. I stayed up till midnight watching that game as NZ TV used to show it delayed with adverts. Timmy Brasher & Wests Mark Bell shared the top try scorers that season with 15 or 16 each..I think.
Tigers missed finals by a 3 or 4 points and I don't think we got any closer to finals footy again in the 90s (if u don't include the super league year).

Boy…what a blast from the past!

Thank you! I'm going to share with my mate Jared who will love this highlights package too!

And RIP Jacin Sinclair.

Cant play the link as Iam in Spain at present and my internet connection lacks juice but I saw most of Big jason's Sydney games for the tigers and let me tell you the demons that troubled him off the field also troubled him on the field he made Bryce Gibbs look like a saint!! But gee he had some talent, great hands, great passing game and one of the best chip kickers in the game. On the negative side of things, did not know when to shut the gob and had a mean coat hanger in his armory. Anyway he was one of those guys who was born with skills you cant coach and sucked the punters through the gate, he sometimes disappointed you buts mostly excited you. He wasn't a robot like so many of todays players. I will always rate him as one of the great Balmain Tigers players–- Thanks Big Jason for the memories

Good work.

The Jacin Sinclair story is a sad one but those highlights really show the enjoyment he gave to many league fans, myself included.

He was one of my favorites and I was shattered when Junior let him go in early 94, it was just a couple of days after MG. (if anyone knows why he was cut can you PM me?)

I remembered being really excited that I read he was trialling for a place back at the Tigers in 97 (I think it was).

We wooden spooned in 1994 if i'm not mistaken… we missed him more than we thought we would..

Yeah we sure did, bad year but you know what that team was never really flogged - they had plenty of spirit.

On YouTube I have some of the 93 game against Souths at the SCG - there's a classic Jacin Sinclair moment in that game, can anyone spot it?

I am at work and cant check out Youtube, but I will never forget one game watching as Jacin Sinclair chase a guy diagonally across the full length of the field to bash him, all the while the game continued around him (cant remember if we were attacking or defending). That was typical Jacin Sinclair. He was in teh Matt Parrish mould for screw loose wanting to bash people constantly. Also a freakish talent that was never fulfilled.

Jacin grew up on the mean streets of Glebe and knew how to look after himself - unfortunately he got a bit carried away at times

Yeah your right about Parish - Michael Pobjie was also a bit of a lunatic!

Mick Pobjie is married to a close family friend. We used to have a lot to do with them particularly during his playing days. Off the field you couldnt have met a nicer bloke.

I loved the way Pobjie was there to smash people…...and then bring on the classy Ellery Hanley to liven things up!

Why don't teams do that anymore?

Yeah I'd guess Junior had no Qualms letting him go in 94', as he didn't fit into the 'dedicated, give 120%' mould… Yes NZ Tiger your Right, he developed a great combination with Will Robinson one year - they put on many a great tries 4 the Leichhardt oval fans. I recall a story when Jacin was playing for Souths, & a Dail all they tele journo tipped Souths to lose by 30+ points. The next time Jacin & the journo crossed paths at the Sfs wasn't pleasant 4 the scribe, with Jacin chasing him all the way up the tunnel (JS was training at the time) then out into the carpark to give him a gobful. About his tipping, which had been terribly off the mark! Classic, he certainly was a character, & a nice bloke (he was knocking around with his mates in Balmain many moons ago, who lived across the road from me, then he gave me his training singlet... After I told him I was a fan) . thanks 4 the memories Bigguy. Sadly Tigersmurf JS wasn't anywhere near his best form when that team was picked in 99\. I believe he won a GF with the Tigers Reserve Grade side in 97 though. Still so much talent untapped. RIP JS. Thks 4 the great memories & value you provided the Leichhardt oval punters!
