**Hindmarsh slams Ennis as Eels crumble**

Parramatta skipper Nathan Hindmarsh labelled Canterbury hooker Michael Ennis a grub and Eels superstar Jarryd Hayne was reported for a headbutt in a drama-charged 34-14 NRL win to the Bulldogs on Friday night.

While Canterbury fullback Ben Barba showed up his opposite with a blistering hattrick at ANZ Stadium, Hayne paid the full price for a moment of madness, headbutting Corey Payne after copping a swinging arm from the backrower.

The incident sparked a stunning revival from the Bulldogs, who piled on 20 points in 11 minutes and 34 unanswered points overall to come from 14-0 down.

But it was a stinging post-game attack from Hindmarsh which grabbed everyone's attention, the Eels skipper livid at being baited by the Bulldogs' No.9, with both sin-binned just minutes after Hayne and Payne were sent to the sheds for 10 minutes.

While Hayne refused to speak after the game, Hindmarsh was filthy at allowing himself to be goaded by Ennis, who has a reputation for niggling tactics.

"Nothing was said, he's just a grub," Hindmarsh said when asked why he reacted with such venom.

"He got under my skin and I retaliated, which I shouldn't have.

"I just lost my cool and I'm disappointed with that because I've been niggled by better."

Ennis brushed off the jibe from his former NSW Origin teammate, claiming "I've been called worse at home".

"My wife would be sitting at home laughing, that's a light spray.

"Hindy's entitled to his opinion, he can say whatever he likes.

"At the end of the day he's the one that came back and threw punches - there was certainly nothing said that was personal … it was more along the lines of if you're going to do something then do it."

Eels coach Stephen Kearney said his side had no right to cave in the way they did after the Hayne binning.

" ... they had 12 men as well so that doesn't change - it was costly in the sense that we probably lost a bit of momentum there but we ended up getting the penalty," he said.

The Eels had Hayne to thank for their early supremacy as he showed the sort of form which had him labelled the world's best player in 2009 with two brilliant individual tries.

But he undid all his good work in the moment of madness, with referees Ashley Klein and Gerard Sutton sure to come under heavy criticism for their decision not to send Hayne from the field for good.

Already without their main man, the Eels could ill-afford to lose their skipper soon after, the Bulldogs finding the 11-a-side to their liking with Steve Turner and Barba scoring two tries within three minutes.

Barba the produced a piece of acrobatic brilliance to score millimetres within the touch in-goal line, but even with their full compliment restored, the Eels weren't able to stem the tide.

Jamal Idris scored the first of his two tries three minutes after the restart before Barba capped his hattrick and the win 13 minutes from time.

how do you get 10 in the bin for a head butt …..if it was a lesser name player he would have been marched ... some parts of todays game stink ... were they worried about the punter who do his cash cold without fairy boy hayne out on the paddock .....double standards ...poor refereeing and channel 9 owning OUR game has me wondering at times .....

Loved hearing it! I even watched Fox news again to make sure I had heard it right.

Although Hindmarsh may well cool off and apologise, this opinion has finally been aired by someone within the NSW ranks who has a lot of respect. If Stuart is fair dinkum about picking players that fit well within the team Ennis should not be there because a lot of his team mates do not like him!

Ennis would surely become the most hated NSW player north of the border since Elias, but the problem is that he is hated south of the border as well!

Didn't he do it last year against Slater ? and got off ??

In 2010 after Origin 1, Hindmarsh was asked if Farah should be the origin Hooker for Origin 2 and he rubbished Farah saying he was not the obvious choice and supported his team mate Ennis to the hilt. That was on the Sunday Footy show.

A grub like Ennis treats everyone like rubbish and has no loyalty to anyone. I wonder what Hindmarsh thinks now.

Looks like Sattler and Sterlo didnt like it either:

That sort of stuff is just garbage - Souths great Sattler rubbishes Ennis sledging as sign of weakness
Greg Prichard
April 21, 2011

Legendary hard man John Sattler has entered the debate over sledging in the modern game and declared that any player who uses the tactic is showing signs of weakness.

''It has always gone on in the game,'' the former South Sydney captain of the late 1960s and early '70s, said yesterday.

''When I was playing, if someone mouthed off we either told them where to go or ignored it. That sort of stuff is just garbage, really. It's not even worth acknowledging.''

Sledging, and whether it is fair or foul, has been a hot topic since Canterbury hooker Michael Ennis, a noted niggler, managed to get under Parramatta second-rower Nathan Hindmarsh's skin with something he said during last Friday's game at ANZ Stadium. Hindmarsh turned and started throwing punches at Ennis, and both players were sin-binned.

After the match, Hindmarsh described Ennis as a ''grub'', adding: ''He got under my skin and I retaliated, which I shouldn't have. He's a niggler and he got under my skin. He's good at what he does, put it that way. I'm disappointed that I lost my cool.''

According to sources at the Bulldogs on the night, Ennis had said to Hindmarsh: ''You've been wanting to have a crack for years. If you want to throw one, throw one.'' Hindmarsh refused to confirm or deny what was said, while Ennis suggested it wasn't very dramatic. ''There was nothing in it,'' Ennis said. ''My wife will be sitting at home laughing. That's a light spray.''

Both players have preferred to move on this week, but Sattler said that didn't excuse Ennis.

''I just think that mouthing off should be treated with the contempt it deserves,'' he said. ''I think that if you do it, then you've got problems. If you resort to that, it means you're struggling. I thought it showed signs of weakness when I was playing, and I think it does now as well.

''Hindmarsh was frustrated. He let things get to him, but I reckon it's the way Parramatta are playing that would have made him frustrated, more than anything.''

The incident has also drawn comment from another, more recent, legend of the game in former Parramatta halfback Peter Sterling, who wrote in his column on the NRL.com website yesterday that, while he liked Ennis as a person and rated him highly as a player, he was ''dismayed and disappointed'' with his post-match comments.

''After being labelled 'a grub' by the respected Eels veteran, Ennis put his own perspective on the unsavoury assessment by claiming it was 'a light spray' and that he'd 'been called worse at home','' Sterling wrote.

''I'm sure this was an attempt to lighten the situation, but I don't believe a mention of the home front was a great way to try and get his point across.

''I would imagine that his lovely wife would also have every right to believe that it did not paint the most flattering of pictures.''

Sterling said players were most remembered for how they carried themselves as players, and how much they were respected by their colleagues.

''By implying that he really didn't give two hoots to what Hindmarsh had to say, that he [Hindmarsh] 'was entitled to his opinion' and could 'say whatever he likes', was not a good reflection on the Canterbury hooker,'' Sterling wrote.

''With the standing that Nathan holds in the game and the way he has carried himself, it seems to me there is also an implication that Michael also wouldn't care what a Darren Lockyer or a Petero Civoniceva would think of him, and that would be a real shame.

''Now we, of course, would not be having this conversation if the Parramatta skipper had not turned around and reacted the way that he did, so there must be a burden of blame which he has to carry. Let's hope it was a lesson well learnt by all.''

Ennis is very lucky he has a manager in George Mimis who has had the ear of selectors and blokes like Dean Ritchie and Laurie Daley for years and when a nice feed would be on the table the tab would be looked after by George if you know what I mean.

George has always had a good relationship with those that matter and have influence to the great benefit of the players he has in his stable. He is a great wheeler and dealer and is from the old school where deals are done with gratuities in mind.

Hence, a huge media push for Ennis in regards to rep duties when he has less than half the talent of Farah.
Hollywood & Zorba have never paid for a meal when Mimis was nearby.

Never.

maybe farah needs a new manager then. if u cant beat 'em, join 'em

Farah may need a new manager regardless when Ayoub is de-registered!!

Got to give Ennis his dues last night . When Burgess went down in the tackle last night injured He was the first to signal to ref and bench that something was wrong . Still don't like him though
