It was a very willing game and the big right centre Mosese Suli had an outstanding game with his strong running and quick play the balls. It was off his runs that the Tigers were able to make significant ground. The big half, Adam Doueihi, repeatedly rolled the ball into the Shark's in goal for repeat sets. This is a real skill. **He has a huge boot and everytime he put the ball up, the Shark's fullback had no idea.** He also provided a tremendous pass for a try. I'd say at six feet two or three he may be a good lock forward. Certainly his ability to wrap up the Shark's ball runners in ball and all tackles was a real feature of his play.

Know it was a while ago but do you still have any recollection of the game Paws?
Funny going back to read some of these old threads/posts... there's a few familiar names.

Hi Lauren,

The Sharks were a formidable team, leading the comp. Most were Kiwis, Tongan or of Samoan ancestry.

Yes Doueihi played half and was outstanding. His huge kicking game was a gamechanger and ability to roll the ball into the in goal was beyond his age group. I still believe he is our ball playing lock we have been looking for in the Paul Langmack style. A strong kicking game, passing, skill, mobility and size.

Seyfarth played second row and I believed him to be a future NRL player. He had the workrate, mobility and no matter how tough it got, he was in there hitting hard.

Suli was lean and very damaging constantly setting up his winger. It is a shame he hasn't reached his potential.

Papenhuyzen was injured that game but he was always going to be a star. Why couldn't our scouts see it?

Seyfarth could still be good. His workrate is outstanding. Last year when he played first grade his body wasn't up to it physically. He was getting rattled in most tackles.

Somewhat agree on Douiehi. In any case, I think the game these days dictates that you need 3 primary playmakers, not including the fullback. Melbourne, Chooks and Eels have it right with their fullbacks all following forwards who love to offload. We need to hurry up on this, because it could be a case of us finding a ball-playing 13 and in 2 years the game has moved past that type of player.

Cheers for that.

Notice a few people on here show great interest in supporting our juniors and I for one especially appreciate the effort in the junior rep thread. It's usually the first thread I visit on the weekend and I enjoy reading all coverage and reports on our players and teams.
I must admit I didn't know about Adam(being one of our juniors) until the world cup, in which he played for Lebanon. Over the years there's been several forumers who have often praised the skill of certain juniors and not to rub salt in the wound, but they've all said the same thing that you have.
One thing I will say is if the amount of talent is at least of half of what it was in years gone, it looks very hopeful for the club's future - seeing as our pathway programs are going strong.

Again thanks for that, as it's always great to hear others share their stories.

Great zombie thread, although bitter-sweet too.

Was thinking of Doueihi for lock the other day and now I find out I'm 5 years late with @pawsandclaws1 calling it first.

I can’t fathom how we lose papenhuyzen. Going back to 2016 and the forum members were calling this guy a star. He was in the nsw under 18s. I know we had Tedesco but seriously our club is just hopeless. Losing him is worse then losing Tedesco. Because he was an up and comer who we could have locked up for peanuts.

There was another player in our HM on the same day. He was super impressive and played 5/8. Like Doueihi he had a RU background and like Doueihi an Aust Schools rep. You will get to know of him because he is believed to be a successor to Reynolds at Souths. His name is Lachlan Ilias. Balmain junior to boot.

As I wrote, the inner west of Sydney is a goldmine of talent, we just have to make sure we secure it.

Lauren, thanks for replying. One of my great joys is watching our youngsters play and supporting them. Mixed emotions when you see Papenuyzen doing so well. Watch out for Lachlan Ilias at Souths. I think once he gets his chance he will be special.
