Holmes to NFL

Gallen is not taking this well

bit extreme imo

Glad to see Gal making a goose of himself.
Hopefully his comments effects the Sharks prep.
Good luck to Val. I know nothing about NFL do they have wingers? Are they wide receivers?

With one year left on his contract with the Sharks - he is walking out on them.

Should not be allowed to walk back into the NRL without repercussions.

Should have to at least to sit one year out on his return imo.

Not targeting specifically Homes - anyone who walks out on a contract I'm talking about.

Why not, if it goes belly up he will at the most be out of action for a season and maybe less. He will still get a giant contract when he returns. Always good to see a guy jumping outside their comfort zone

The NFL is a very tough gig,I know little about it except that it is highly competative…Will Holmes make it ? I dont know but full credit to him for having a go....

Must be someone of influence over there telling him to have a crack.
You don't just make a decision like that and give up so much without having a good motive to do so.

He's not walking out on them, Sharks agreed to the release.

Sonny Bill walked out, Holmes sought a release and got it. Sharks could have easily said "nah, we'll hang on to you, honour your contract."

Forget Sharks (don't give a rats) - he is walking out on the NRL.

How is Holmes any less of an athlete the Hayne was, plus hes got age on his side. If he makes it I can see him doing far better then hayne did.

Hayne is the superior of the two.
Simple as that.

Val gets donkey of the day.
Hes top 5 wingers in the NRL and top 10 fullbacks…
In the NFL he won't be first string anything.

I heard a wrestler once say, a real wrestler not the WWE nonsense... That he could take 5 years off and not train whilst a person with no wrestling experience can train for that 5 years and get all the coaching possible.... The five year off guy would still win because its second nature to them and they're conditioned since young to do it. It's a massive American culture and they take it serious because it can take them to the olympics and college.... Jus like AMERICAN FOOTBALL.

As far as I know Val didn't spend his whole life since he could walk tossing the pig skin in a grid iron sense. He's up against an entire country of potential stars who play from young ages. Every school has a team. High school state championships, national championships, college!

America is huge also.
He's a big fish in a small pond over here but yeah... Good luck Val. Gronk.

So you're slating the guy for taking a risk on a total unknown because it is something he wants to do, despite forgoing all the money he stands to make here?

If everyone thought that way the human race would go nowhere.

Wah Wah Wah.

Allz I'm saying is….
The kid is very unlikely to make it.

Dream big kiddies.

Hayne was unlikely to make it and he somehow did, what previous experience did he have? Val has at least done some form of testing over there, which sure it doesnt mean a lot but hes in a better position then hayne was

I find it interesting that we are all high and mighty (me included) about the pink panther walking out on a contract but we criticise Gallen for verbalising the same values

Gallen saying stuff most on here advocate… Make a contract something to abide by.... Yet he's a gronk?
Naah let's hear sanitised regurgitated spin ala dce

If it came from just about anyone else it would have been agreeable.

I can't listen to a convicted doper who got slapped with a wet lettuce pontificate about the integrity of the game.

So yeah, he is a gronk.

Agreed…. Even dh's can have a good pov (Gal, not u Steve)

And I don't think Holmes/Sharks is even remotely the same as Cleary/Penrith.

There's no guarantees with Holmes, he's forgoing a good year's salary for a very high possibility that he'll flunk it there. He will come back to Cronulla next year if it goes pear shaped early anyway.

Ha ha!! Glad you clarified that ?

Gallen going off like a porkchop as usual

Wanting players that leave the code to get 2 year bans

Well Paul I reckon players who get on the juice to get 2 year bans …...how long did you get ??

Another imbecile that doesn't need a platform.
Even in retirement I doubt we'll see the end of this colossal grub.
He'll be in the media making a comment on everything.

Wants his mate to cop a two year ban….

Former mate.

He didn't even have the decency to inform the club coach and team mates personally…. He did an Ivan... Actaully even worse than an Ivan... They found out thru the media release

Yeah OK I'll cop that, that is a fair call.

Still, I don't care whether Gallen is right or not. He cannot comment on the integrity of the game after he got done for doping which is cheating and eats away further at the games integrity than a player being released to go and try his hand at a pie in the sky dream. Also, did he have an opinion on early breaks of contracts when Segeyaro was lured back to Australia from Leeds to show up for Cronulla? Doubt it.

Gallen has done more damage to the game than Holmes ever will by walking out a year early, and to have the hide to lecture about integrity is laughable.

Yeah your probably right Ink , but if you looked up the phrase "people in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks" you'd see a photo of Paul Gallen

How many times has his halo almost strangled him …....
