Hostile Reception for Melbourne Storm

I don't think booing the Storm will upset the players too much, they've copped it all season and it has only strengthened their resolve, if they hadn't be detected as rorting the cap then they would still be higher up the ladder.
Remember it was Brian Waldron's rotten regime that cheated the system, not the players, **I would suggest something novel instead, how about they run out to absolute silence with the Tigers fans turning their backs to them.**
The only person cheering for the Storm when they run out then will be serial radio pest 'Shane' from Blacktown!.

That'd be unbelievable if we could do it. Even they would be shocked. It'd be amazing if we could orchestrate that.

They are expecting to get booed, so this would work big time.

If someone could spread the word about that around the stadium it would be a great moment in rugby league history.

way too hard to do…need to get EVERYONE to spread the word

would be a famous moment if it happened tho and i hope it does

I'm up for that. The money and wooden spoons have already been done by Parra supporters and there's no way I'm going to emulate a degenerate Parra fan.

I hope the boys just have their mind on the game and don't get baited when Melbourne resort to filthy tactics.

I'll be one fan who won't be giving them hell. I applaud Coach Bellamey and his players on how they've managed to continue to turn up every week amidst the drama that has surrounded their season. The club's hierarchy have cheated the game and their own personnel. I'll boo them as an opposition team, but I won't scoop to the level of Parramatta, Canberra and NZ fans this year who have labelled the players as cheats and have insulted them by flashing money at them. I guess I am one of a minority on here though that holds that opinion. Each to their own. I guess I still have depressing memories of attending away matches in '01 and '02 when our club and players were labelled as drug addicts. It hurt back then and it still hurts today as a supporter. Melbourne players and their loyal fans have not done wrong by us. The NRL should have shown leadership and suspended them from the competition this season to avoid such drama from occuring. But as usual, Gallop and his News Ltd. crownies were as weak as a Hahn Light Middy

I went to the Melbourne-Manly game a few weeks ago with a lot of Manly supporting friends (I know, I need new friends). Anyway, the crowd wasn't huge but they certainly let Melbourne know what they thought of them. Every time Melbourne got the ball a chant of "Cheats! Cheats! Cheats!" broke out and that went on for the whole game.

It was arguably the best side the Storm could name and they played liked busted's and I'm pretty sure the crowd played their part. We made and had made (friend is a sail maker) a number of special signs just for the game, the Melbourne Cheetahs one is the best though. I really think we should try and pack the hill out and get as many signs, spoons and chants going as possible.

Hopefully I can bring the Melbourne Cheetahs banner to the rectangle on Sunday.

Spot the lone Tigers jersey?

I agree with this Gobbs, there still are a lot of players on their roster who werent cheats - lets not be too boganish.

I was at that Canberra game earlier in the year and they absolutley gave it to them. The Raiders fans were funny but ultimately disgraceful.

They were disgraceful, as were the Parra and NZ fans. To boo and heckle is one one thing, but when it gets personal, that's when it crosses the line. And as a Wests Tigers fan, I won't be crossing it, or as i previously stated, won't be scooping to the low levels of respective Canberra, Parramatta and NZ fans. I and hopefully others as well, perceive ourselves to have more class than what has been portrayed by these minority of Rugby League supporters of rival clubs.

Leichhardt is a hostile place at the best of times. Heaps of people will be drinking on the hill so i expect a very hostile environment for the Storm. They have done some really provocative things in the past like Kearneys spear tackle, Williams king hit and Slaters kick tot he head of Skandalis. Personally I think getting right behind the Tigers would create a better atmosphere at the ground. Booing Melbourne for lying on the play the ball, or for being offside, putting pressure on the ref. Applauding our good runs or nice plays. Not spending the whole aftrnoon waving spoons or chantin g cheats. That doesn't sound enjoyable to me. That just creates a menacing atmosphere that does not really benefit our team and may fire Storm up.

Sure a bit of banter is fine, but menacing chants and getting in their face is probably not publicity the club needs on the eve of the finals. Only takes a Storm player to react and then a fan to react and its probably trouble not needed. I Remember being one of the fans verbally abusing and surrounding the area above the players tunnel after the 2004 game when Williams king hit Oneill. Seeing it on TV was an ugly look, not something to be proud of even though Williams was a dog act.

Who cares about Storm really, Im not going to blubber on about respecting all their achievements and rubbish like that. I just don't care about them. Get behind the Tigers, banter the opposition, put pressure on the ref, normal Leichhardt appraoch for me.

I don't blame the fan for that after what Williams did.

True Alien. But it looks ugly when fans get in the faces of opposition and if they don't show restraint could lead to trouble. I just reckon really getting behind the team, and putting pressure on the ref is the ebst atmosphere at Leichhardt. Booing the lieks of Slater for kicking Skandalis in the head would be on the menu. But getting carried away with flashing money, or spoon or cheat calls in their faces. A bit of banter regarding the free boat or vouchers, sure. But you don't want vile fans that are turning up more ready to boo the Storm then get right behind the Tigers, That would be a bit of an ugly atmosphere for mine.

I cannot believe what I am reading. You blokes should be ashamed to call yourselves supporters of Rugby League!
Craig Bellamy built that team from scratch not like teams who go out and try and buy the premiership. They have been the entertainers of the game over the last 5 years and I love the way they play the game. I know who I would like coaching the Tigers, at least if Craig Bellamy was here we would really see the up and coming players develop their full potential, not held back like the way a number of them have been treated this season.

They were only a successful team because they cheated. All those wins mean nothing now.

It is Leichhardt Oval not Nancyboy Lane or Gaylord Terrace!!! It alone has 10 times the history of the Storm!!

Our clubs combined have 20 times the history of the Storm - and yet they disrespected us and our game!!!

To hell with respecting them and unleash hell!!

I like your style. :sunglasses:

I remember back in round 19 when the Storm were playing Melbourne the crowd continually chanted cheats and were holding out cash at the storm players. It really unsettled them and they ended up losing 13-6\. If any ground will really get to them by taunts from the crowd none would be better than the old girl Leichhardt Oval.

They were successful because they were better coached and developed as players. Money doesn't buy premierships, so many clubs have found that out over the years.
As I said I can't believe the low comments aired on this topic. Doesn't say much for the mentality of those who posted these disgusting remarks.
