How big is the Tigers supporter/fan-base?

On a week-to-week basis I see more Tigers supporter gear (Jerseys, bumper stickers, hats, etc.) than any other team. Least frequent would be the Dragons, then the Bulldogs and then Roosters and Rabbitohs are about the same as each other. So, my question is how big is the Wests Tigers fan-base? I know the membership numbers but, they aren't a true indication of the size of the fan-base.

Someone used to post about facebook having 240 000 + for the Wests Tigers and only 10 k members

I don't know if that helps

For all the fear and loathing re: being a small club, we are definitely one of the big Sydney clubs (us, Dogs, Souths, Dragons, Eels).
If we ever start winning again, watch the fans pop out of the woodwork across the country.

Well up in QLD I definitely see more tigers apparel compared to other sydney teams.. I obviously see more Qld team supporters, followed by Melbourne, but next in line would be Tigers for sure.

The Weststigers are the sleeping giant of the Sydney sporting arena..I have been saying this for years ,you only have to look at how Ch9 want them regularly "ratings" hopefully now the club is moving in the right direction .If the new proposal moves forward at Concord and the team also moves in the right direction this all points to the awakening of the giant.
I also think it is time to put roots down with a home ground, the state government want a couple of teams playing out of the new stadium at Parramatta and I believe the Tigers have to be one of those teams it is ideal and the stadium will be one of the best in the country
To watch footy.

The 'Tiger' as a brand always has a strong market appeal. From a commercial perspective, if Wests Tigers could be one of those regular Top 8 teams who always play finals football our supporter base could easily be National and to an extent strong within the Asian Markets.

It forever frustrates me listening to the dribble about Magpies & Balmain's heritage and how important it is to the Wests Tigers. I have always seen it as a hinderance, small-minded and struggle to understand why after 17 years we have not yet had a CEO with the commercial smarts to see he bigger picture. [this doesnt mean you forget about where you come from]

From a tribalism perspective, its always great seeing people, cars etc promoting our brand in Queensland. Its always been a great experience travelling to Titans and Broncos home games when playing the Tigers and to see the support of our team has in these regions.

Time to wake-up the sleeping tiger and stop preaching to the converted… There is a greater audience of tomorrows customer to be captured!

I reckon up here the 4 major sides I see from south of the border are the Raiders ,Saints ,Parra and the WT's

Just amazed when I found out that the young fella had 6 WT's supporters in his class when he started school

Having been a member since Day 1 I would say Wests Tigers would have a core group of about 2000 rusted on's…You see the same faces at games that have been going like forever..At the back end of 05 crowds attending games at our Suburban grounds swelled to the 20K mark and the SOLD OUT signs went up...After that success crowds the began to dwindle again then BOOM. 10/11 more success on the field and we were packing them in again with people you hadn't seen for ages with their fresh new jerseys some with tags still attached...more SELL OUTS..

In other words Wests Tigers have the biggest BANDWAGON fan base in the NRL...will we see those numbers again not sure as the game itself has become more of a TV product now...lost are the days of 3 games of footy and you would make a day/night of it

Start stringing a few more wins together get hope and faith combining....Ivan will need more Buses...

We do have a massive support base the majority of Balmain/Magpies supporters embraced the JV and now off course we have many more who have only ever known WT.I live on Sydneys northern beaches and have done for over 40 years. Many people would be surprised to know that we would probably be the 2nd or 3rd most supported club on the peninsula along with dragons.
Dont be fooled by the amount of supporters who go to matches these days many dont for various reasons.I dont go to games often these days because of health issues.
Channel 9 put us on tv very often because they know people will watch the game on TV.We are a sleeping giant in regards to support

Give us some ongoing success and our numbers would surely swell. Look at how we were supported during 2010-12\. When we made the finals, our games were typically the ones with the largest crowds.

Give us some ongoing success. PLEASE!!!

You could say that for most of the Sydney clubs. It's ingrained in the Sydney culture. Even when your team is winning, it's still hard to get the punters through the gates.

League is a working mans game. When people are on limited disposable incomes, they pick there mark. If we are going well they spend their hard earned on the footy if we're not going well they spend it on a new tv.

Yep, Sydney is a massively bandwagon city for all codes - look at the A League teams, the Swans, BBL teams etc. I didn't include the GWS Giants as no one cares about them.

I'm a Sydney FC member, have been for about four or five years. I've missed our two last home games. We've lost one game this year and are breaking records all over the place. Unfortunately sport isn't the be all and end all in Sydney.

Your team doesn't have to be doing poorly to not get punters through the gates. Manly could run undefeated all year and would still have dramas bringing fans from over the bridge.

Just the one bus please , it will grow like the fish and loaves , more than one bus and people will start complaining because one bus is better than the other , Geo's on my bus , Flip just farted again , TT hit me with his golf club , Yoss is trying to convert me to the ALP , Happy's taking up too much of the seat , Ink's assless chaps haven't been washed again ,Captain Dan is reciting scenes from Forrest Gump again etc etc etc you get my drift

We are all on the same bus , win ,lose or draw

12 odd years ago when I was barely scraping through highschool there were 3 other people in my class who supported them. To be honest I prefer being the only supporter in my social circle though, makes for good banter

I recall the NRL used to do surveys about this, it was estimated around 2001 (if my memory serves) that Tigers had something like 100-120K supporters that self-identified as Tigers supporters.

It was one of the higher figures for a Sydney club, IIRC Bulldogs were higher. But it's self-reporting, it wasn't whether they attend games or spend money. It's like ticking you are Catholic in the census and never going to church.

Everyone's second favorite team as Vossy would say…

I think people dont hate us like they hate other clubs, which is nice.

This contract drama probably annoys though.

Will Happy share seats with the feral unwashed hairy hippies who adore Aaron's flowing mane?

We have the 6th largest TV viewership and that's all that matters.
I believe Souths, Eels, Dragons, Bulldogs, Broncos are ahead.
