How can we win this game?

Grind early. Make early statements.

We cannot win a shootout with Canberra. If we play loose and free all game and afford Canberra early possession and points we will get blown away. We need to keep the ball in play. No touch finders, no dead ball kicks. High kicks and early kicks. Play to tire them out. We need to complete after points of we get them even if that means kicking early.

Desperation from us and managing theirs.

We need to show desperation in defence and we need to keep Canberra from getting a roll on. We need to hang in there until Canberra start to get desperate and when they do we need to be ready for their ball movement and rise when they do. Key to this will be clever use of our bench.

Momentum

We need to be ready for the momentum swings and hang in when Canberra get theirs and we need to capitalise when we get ours. Our on field leaders need to keep their wits.

Overall

We once had a game plan that beat Canberra every time and it is still the way to beat them, they just found a way to beat us. Canberra are going to be looking at this game salivating and expecting a win but if we meet them with renewed focus early and get on top they are 0-2 and could fall apart.

Much that we don't show has to be shown here. Game management from the on field leaders and off field managers, toughness and intelligence. Tough ask.

What did we have against the raiders for all those years? It was 2015 and we led by 20 odd and they came back and won. Was awful. Well not as as awful as last year …

Their senior playing group was just mentally beaten tbh. The game plan was always to run them around and Benji and Farah knew how to do it but mostly it was mental

The key is obviously a good start. Canberra are vulnerable but they need to be reminded of it by going behind quickly.

But yes we are gonna get thumped.

The bench today won't help a bit, so aside from holding the ball, which I'm not convinced we will do, we need a divine intervention to take out Austin and Sezer, that's our only hope. Realistically we'll do well to stay within 30 points of the Raiders.

They mentioned earlier it's warm & balmy down there… As Gus just mentioned if we can get plenty of ball and run them around then who knows??
They may fatigue early, mistakes, frustration... Maybe
