How did Merrit stay on the field?

So we loose a bloke for the game and he gets put on report?

His shot on Lawrence was a one of the most dog swinging arms I have seen in a long long time! Blind sided and jumped…. it was a classic send off!

Sooo Lawrence gets taken off... what happens? Souths target his side of the field and killed us! Between Lui and Ayshford, they could tackle a ham sandwich! It was pathetic and extremely frustrating...

Agree 100% he should of been sent what a joke. WE are penalised for the whole game and he is still out there!! they need to start changing rules like 10 min sin bin or merrit can be replaced but not return until lawrence back on the field. We went down hill after this joke of reff calls..

wasn't able to watch the game or even listen to it last night Kaiser, but did that happen in the 2nd half and then the bunnies went on their blitz?

The only thing that kept him on, I think, was that they didn't have the perfect TV angle.

He should have gone, for sure. He actually jumped up and smashed him. Nothing but face.

The crap thing about the video ref is that pre-video ref, he'd have been marched for sure. Now they're just too bloody scared to march someone without the video ref looking at it 100 times trying to find ways to not give the correct decision.

The Brown no-try was the same deal. On Friday night there was one very similar, that was given.

Pretty much mate

yeah just watched some highlights, how the hell did he stay on….we had a guy carried off, but Merrit stays???

I think going for the penalty goal then was the wrong decision too, surely the boys would have been fired up and then that would have been the best time to attack?

and a couple of tries came down lawrances side which cost us the game including the match winner and the one to get them within 6 points of us.

I reckon we win if lawrance stays on the field

Pretty disgraceful really and yet burgess gets on report a few weeks ago for smashing pearce….. REFS ARE JUST HORRIBLE.....

He will serve time for that tackle. Not sure if you could give a bigger penalty than what the refs did. What I didn't like was that tackle was one of Sport Tonights 3 Brut Big Hits.

You guys are blind, there was no malice at all in that tackle, there was no swinging arm either. I got no problem with how the ref handled it.

The Souffs bogans with no teeth around us were blasting Lawrence for being "soft" and taking a "dive." Pathetic.

It wasn't malicious but he was hit in the head. Fair call and penalty, I have no idea what they were complaining about.

I had a bigger problem as far as intent goes with Lowes deliberate late hit of the exposed ribs of Marshall in the first half.

Merritt will cop a reckless charge but it takes alot to get sent off

Absolutely; that was one of the latest hits I have seen for a long while.

Watching the replays on the big screen it didn't look like there was much contact with the arm and there was more contact from the shoulder. I think that is what hurt Lawrence more. If he didn't jump when he tackled Lawrence his shoulder wouldn't have been as high. I don't think he should have been sent off though. It wasn't really all that high. The Souths player and supporters who accused Lawrence of taking a dive are idiots though. Even some Souths players were telling the other Souths player to shutup and were keeping him away from Lawrence and the other Wests Tigers players after the tackle. You could tell Lawrence wasn't faking it. I think Lawrence was hurt because it was a strong hit.

I think if you go on report if not sent off you should also get 10 in the bin. One of our best attacking players was taken out late and high. What advantage did we get. If Merrit was in the bin for 10 we could have used the extra man advantage (probably not the way we are playing).

The refs are too soft to send anyone off anymore so if someone goes on report put them in the bin for 10.

In response to my above post, everyone place on report goes for 10 in the bin. Hard and fast rule that everyone knows. I would also drop referees that are found to have wrongly placed someone on report.

It wasn't late and it didn't really look all that high. I think he got hurt because he got hit hard and didn't really see him coming. That's Rugby League. I think the ref made the right decision giving us the penalty and putting Merritt on report because it was a bit careless how he jumped at him which is why it may have been a little high but he shouldn't have been sent off. I didn't look like most of the contact was from a swinging arm.

They can't do that because half of the people they put on report shouldn't be getting put on report in the first place and having a player sin-binned for 10 minutes can make a huge difference in a match.
