How do our current halves rate?

Tomorrow will tell us how they rate I guess.

Exactly, lets see what these supposed superstars come up with tomorrow when they need to step up and earn their pay packet.

Thing is we only made top 4 and won it when Benji was at 6.
Didn't work whe he was at 7.

I think Benjis half's partners had a fair bit to do with the success as well. Prince was great, Lui was good when he was good, just a shame he wasn't good off the field.

Salary cap increases and the desire to win together will give us a shot at keeping them and building a team around them. I've said it before these boys as a unit could possibly be next SOO and Kangaroo combinations.(there are those ratbags from Penrith who will challenge them and i bet that Gould is in their ears selling them the same dream????)

Exactly.
Benji was a headless chicken out there without a good half partner.
It's a major reason why Robbie took a dominant role in playmaking out of dummy half to counter the missing half partner.
Hence the problem we had with Robbie overplaying his hand.

I don't want to lay the boot into Robbie but I think Robbie is just a player that comes up with hog plays too often and there is no reason for it. It's just part of who he is as a player.

They stepped up last week. This is a bigger stage against a better team. It'll be interesting how they perform.

Thoughts now Steve :roll
If Moses wasn't worst on field then Brooks was. If they're our future I'll book more holidays at the end of August.

Stryker that was a pretty ordinary effort. Moses has it in him. He has a will to win and he can make something happen. Brooks was ordinary.

I don't know what to think. I'm not sure if they were the reason we lost and I'm inclined to stick with them.

Yeah today showed what I mean.
Moses was terrible his kicking game got us going backwards from the start andas bad as he was he still tried to take over the team making it worse.
His role must be limited few kicks no organization of team looking to be a support player and gamebreaker.
Brooks was shut out by this guy today and he pshes Tedesco wider when he's there so this will never work imo.
By my count he made.
3 handling errors
2 passes to nobody.
5 poor kicks including a bomb out on the full and a 7 tackle restart. A weekly occurance.
3 miss takles leading direckly to tries an i haven't seen the replay yet.
Brooks must be encouraged to be playmaker and Moses but play a more limited role otherwise we will loose Brooks and probably Tedesco as they are gradually sht out.
This was real bad and a further example tat it won't ork against tuff opposition.

What a surprise our two highest paid "superstars" failed to deliver again.

Moses was terrible last year and Yes he improved this year doing some good things but he also does some z grade stuff and Brooks well he just isn't a first grader full stop. You would think a coach who was a halfback could somehow improve a halfbacks play but NO Brooks just gets worse every week.

The question was how do our halves rate and I would answer slightly below middle of the field at the moment. They are rocks and diamonds but there are reasons for this. They are both young and, often halfbacks or five-eighths don't become quality halves until they are 24 or 25\. Both would have benefited from playing beside an experienced play maker when they came into first grade but that didn't happen. They came up together and had to learn on the job, in a weak first grade squad and behind a small, often ineffective forward pack. This has led to a tendency to either overplay their hand or go into their shell through a lack of confidence (Brooks often the latter). I think Moses was asked to do too much against Canberra. Without Tedesco's play making ability and with Brooks nursing a sore knee everything was left to him with the inevitable result that the Raiders put pressure on him then fed off his offensive and defensive errors. Both players can become excellent, even elite first grade halves but they need time, a stronger pack of forwards and patient, constructive coaching. We need to be patient.

With the halves obviously overcome with the occasion, imagine we had a SOO hooker out there with almost 250 gsmes under his belt to help settle the nerves and calm them down. Oh we did, but he was on the scoreboard drinking schooners while getting paid. Oh and we will still pay him $750k to play against us next year.

Hog plays lol. Let us know your thoughts on Moses and his hog plays. Because if he doesnt limit his touches you will also see Tedesco be less effective next year.

They are miles better than a lot of other combinations running around in the NRL and the good thing they are going to get better. Sadly we have a lot of other player in our squad who are not going to get any better

I don't think that these guys are the issue unless we start paying them way too much money.

Already getting too much and its affecting the balance of the team.
If they got less we may have kept Marty.
And maybe signed a goalkicker.

Sadly cant see this side achieveing much without new players.

They are both great halves and have been exceptional in 2016\. I think Moses has the portion alto play origins in 2017 but probably won't but with his rapid improvement confident he will be named in 2018 origin. Brooks has been a vital weapon in attack for us. Hasn't developed as fast as Moses but will definelty improve in the off-season. If both halves improve and play to their potential they WILL be the best halves combination within a few years. They both need to pick up their defensive game and if they do that then that would get the Tigers pretty close to the premiership.

The only problem looking to the future is Moses' goal kicking ability.

It doesn't matter that much though, scoring tries are better than kicking goals

Really..Team X 24(4 Tries 4 Goals) def. Team Y 22(5Tries 1 Goal)…

With Moses we score more tries.
Tries are worth more than goals.
Would you rather score more tries or more goals?
